What is this European Championships thing?
I was looking forward to the usual week of athletics... but they seem to have added a bunch of other random sports as well, bizarrely taking place in a totally different location... thus diluting things for me*. Additionally, since the BBC guarantee at least 50% of their coverage must consist of Gaby Logan and Denise Lewis exchanging banalities whilst ignoring the events actually taking place behind them, I don't expect to see a whole lot of athletics.
Maybe I'll stick to Eurosport.
*Fans of cycling will perhaps disagree, and can presumably look forward to GB winning every single medal.
What's happened to the European Athletics Champs???

Maybe 'fletics is getting flogged and a bit predictable and they see the attraction of the commonwelf type meet, especially the usual corporate and media freeloaders.

Or not... perhaps the other nations have finally figured there's a bunch of medals up for grabs if they invest in this sport a little.Son of Mathonwy wrote:*Fans of cycling will perhaps disagree, and can presumably look forward to GB winning every single medal.

I was impressed by 'Big Soph'. Like many misshapen athletes, she was the most erudite and self aware.
I'd guess she'll be some sort of Skip in years to come.

Team GB turned in a best-of- the-rest showing across the piece with the funding structure continuing to bear fruit...bravo.
D Asher-Smith appears to have the character and personality to match her ability and could really go places.
Peaty & Laura Kenny are phenomenal competitors.
Seemed to go ok overall - credit to the Weegies, again.
