What kind of fool thinks that using insulting labels will attract the youth to the forces?? Honestly, don't know whether to laugh or what

I saw that. Presumably it was someone middle-aged thinking that they were connecting with the youth.

From what I’ve read it was fully researched, including with the intended demographic, and those in the photos are currently serving and have signed off the posters. One has subsequently claimed they weren’t but there is paperwork to prove otherwise.
If you look at it without trying to find reason to take offence, the posters/ads are actually finding positives for those blanket terms, eg snowflake = compassion and phone zombie = focus.

It was the Sarje on one of his more lucid days. He'll deny it now, of course, his short term memory has gone.

Yeah, I can’t say I’m that taken with this approach, although it really isn’t aimed at me. I remember the Air Force doing a recruitment campaign a few years ago revolving around a shelf stacker at a supermarket cutting their finger and the whol management team rushing to help him. I think the message was ‘does your employer care this much about you’?
The best campaign as probably the Royal Marine one with 99.9% need not apply. I’m not sure this latest one for the army will be that inspiring, it I suppose we will see.

How well you know me. I absolutely deny any involvement on the irrefutable grounds that I haven't had anything that could remotely pass for a lucid day in several months.

It is funny how the things that appeal to those of us who are running a little longer in the mess kit gusset do not come close to meeting the recruiting intent. The 99.9% need not apply signally failed to appeal to the targeted demographic, 99.9% of whom did not apply and once pipeline and training wastage came into play, the Booties weren't getting nearly enough recruits. I suppose 85.3% need not apply doesn't have the same ring to it.
As far as the Army goes, nothing has come close to The Professionals campaigns of the 70s.
The TV campaign of about 10 years ago which showed a boyfriend exercising his late-night escape and evasion techniques to evade his girlfriend's father on his way to her bedroom was a real hit with the targeted demographic but severely bruised the ludicrous moral superiority of the officers' messes. I have spoken to my sons, one of which is in the OTC, and both felt that the new poster campaigns were a vast improvement on the touchy-feely 'Belonging' campaign - which isn't saying very much at all.
We're all a long way behind the inspired Royal Navy campaign, "I was born in Carlisle, but I was made in the Royal Navy." Fecking brilliant.

99.9% didn't, so they changed it.
I think a lot of people are missing the point of the posters. It's a challenge to prove that they're not those stereotypes. Time will tell if they work or not but if it does you can get that all those that have thrown tantrums at it won't admit they're good.

You have a fecking hard neck! I know we all like to play to stereotype, but I can't imagine any Jock being quite so tight-fisted without at least a good lump of Yorkshire spunk in him.

Indeed. I fancy you to squeeze Montpelier out and expect a welcome for us in the QFs that will not, for once, incorporate drunken abuse of former Scotland greats and Chris Patterson.
It might be nice, too, to have more than 30 or 40 people coming along to watch.

It won't be the same if you don't abuse Hastings.

There really are more than 30 or 40 people at Edinburgh matches, it's just that the rest are still standing in the queue for their vastly overpriced shit beer.

He "couldn't find" the bar though so he wouldn't know.

Its certainly an improvement on the original idea...
"I was born in Carlisle......so I fecked off and joined the Navy as as soon as I could cos anythings better than that shite hole"

Turns out it's a better advert than Iceland's Christmas special made famous on YouTube, now that's how to look straight into the camera and lie your backside off

Applications at 5 year high.
5000 applications in Dec rose to 9700 in Jan after the adverts went out.

Is that due to the advert or perhaps because Capita have finally managed to process some applications?

As far as I'm aware that's just applications. Nothing to do with turning them into actual recruits.
