It's bullshit, but it is the way the Law is worded that is the problem. Another piece of ill thought through legislation.canta_brian wrote:So you can be entitled to live in the UK and work in the UK but you are not allowed to rent a property with the money you have earned legally in the UK. That sounds like a court challenge of some sort surely?
The Welsh have been here a long time and there's little to be done about it now. Somebody has surely ballsed up in this instance howeverMellsblue wrote:Foreigners.
What's needed is a hard border across Offa's Dyke.Digby wrote:The Welsh have been here a long time and there's little to be done about it now. Somebody has surely ballsed up in this instance howeverMellsblue wrote:Foreigners.
The cause of the problem is the Government deciding that Landlords should be enforcing Government immigration policy by being obliged to check if a potential tenant is a legal resident. The Government has helpfully prescribed exactly what documents and legal status a tenant should have, and it is in the detail of this that the problem lies.Digby wrote:What actually is causing the problem?
The Oceanus Britannicus was surely a hard enough border, and the immigrants who crossed it - Horsa and Hengist and all their pals - should surely be sent back across it.Puja wrote:What's needed is a hard border across Offa's Dyke.Digby wrote:The Welsh have been here a long time and there's little to be done about it now. So they can be legally resident but if they don't have the paperwork which matches specific checks they're caught out?Stones of granite wrote:The cause of the problem is the Government deciding that Landlords should be enforcing Government immigration policy by being obliged to check if a potential tenant is a legal resident. What could possibly go wrong?Digby wrote: If so it rather highlights the problem of rushed legislation, thank god we have no further plans for that
