We may lose Russell. Depends on outcome of HIA. But if possible a wee shower and then back on the park for the lads.

Can we change the Fred title of this to "single crown show down". Hang on, actually make it single crown hoedown.

... Wait, do you get half a crown for a draw?

Single crown is a thing.

It is.

Oh, shit. Have we reached our pinnacle? Can't even improve the bench?

Horne was excellent today but I'm still not sure he should be starting at 10. He's a brilliant runner and passer of the ball but you miss out on the tactical kicking side of Russell's game (I know he's not consistently good at it but he can be). Taylor put in a couple of good kicks today so maybe it won't be such an issue.

Also still not sold on Dunbar being involved. He was decent today but a long way off what he is capable of. I'd feel more comfortable if he was with Glasgow being managed.

Bench still needs fixed. Glasgow have a game next week don't they? So suspsect it will be Sutherland again and we might see Swinson/Wilson/Lamont released back as options become fit again.

So.. some question marks at 10/12 and the bench. Squad is looking decent otherwise. I know he's only getting cameos but Low is playing really well when he comes on. I always thought he had a lot of potential in his mid 20s but never quite kicked on. Happy for him to stay on the bench while Fagerson plays for the weeg.

Got a feeling Russell won't make it so Horne probably deserves to keep the jersey after Sundays performance. Rhubarb or Meat on to the bench??

JG has a pectoral tear and was having a scan today. No idea how bad it is but he could miss Saturday.

Is this something to do with you going to Dublin and birds shaped like a weeble?

That's a nasty injury. I would parachute Toolis into the starting XV.

Isn't the concussion protocol a minimum of seven days which means he misses out on Saturday anyway?

Schmit isn't allowed by contract so it's probably vern or gatland.

Vern with Baxter, toonie and Edwards would be interesting.

Not quite sure I believe its a significant tear. No way he would have finished the game with a torn pec. He was moving around fine at the end of the game too. A strain or minor tear maybe.

Completely agree on Toolis though. It has to be him but I am not optimistic. I really don't understand why Vern keeps picking Swinson on the bench, it's like he doesn't rate Toolis at all.

The current pecking order makes little sense for the pro clubs too, Glasgow could use Swinson a lot more than Edinburgh need Toolis.

To me it almost doesn't matter. If there is any tear/strain we should sit him out. He is a young second row who has years ahead of him. If that tear gets worse it could be far worse longer term.

The Ireland game is a big one but we'd need to be cautious on this one.

Sorry lads, it was a strain. He wouldn't have finished the game had it been a tear. Haven't seen any news on how the scan went. If he's out I'd like to see Toolis in, but VC will no doubt go with Swinson.

JG out, as is Denton still. The same backrow will start no doubt and I'm guessing Swinson will start with Toolis on the bench.

Yup expect that will be it. No update on Russell yet, but if we lose him will Horne get the nod and if so, Wier or Jackson on the bench. Hopefully Jackson with probably Slamont on bench?

6 foot 10 Richie packing down with 6 foot 4 Swinson. It'll be interesting.

I hope it's Toolis, I really do.

I've always wondered about the height differential for the 8's bind. Anyone in on here that used to, or still does play 8? Does it make a difference?

It makes a difference, a professional 8 should be cable to cope with that sort of thing though. Swinson is too short to be an international lock anyway.

I just went to look up his height and it appears his name is Timothy James Montague Swinson.

I don't know what to do with that information but I thought you'd all like to know.

I don't know what he's listed as but there are usually hollywood inches added on listings. He's a big guy in everyday life but rugby.. Harley has a noticeable height advantage over him.

I can't say I thought he was much shorter than Jonny Gray to be honest, he's listed as 6'5". Harley I thought was 6'3" but I don't know where that figure comes from.

For what it's worth I was often a fair bit taller than the other lock I scrummed with and it was really irritating.

I played at lock for a few seasons - at 5' 11" I claimed the title of Shortest Lock in Scotland (unverified). The guy I normally played with is about 6' 4" but I don't recall our nr. 8 complaining particularly about it. He moaned about everything else, though, and it's possible it got lost in the noise.
