Halaholo and Bulrbring I think are eligible for Wales for the RWC - Id look at Halaholo for a centre spot, but not Bulbring for the second row

Any other Jonah Holmes type candidates that could be surprise inclusions?

Johnny McNichol is another, tho he has not shown much interest in playing for us, we could do with getting Harry Randall (Bristol) into one of the regions, he looks very good.

I’d definitely consider Halaholo, a seriously talented player. JD2 is nailed onto the outside centre spot, but some depth would be nice. Parkes is good and come across as Mr Reliable and Mr Good Decision Maker. Scott Williams is injured as I recall and I’m struggling to recall what his form was like prior to that. Definitely space for a bolster.

On the same night, Patchells star faded badly and hes in danger of being the odd man out on this RWC campaign.

And although well documented that he'll not get picked, Dan Evans showed again what a dangerous option he is at FB.

The Scarlets were poor in general, but agreed, Patchell didn't look too good. More worrying was their hopeless defence.

4 tries? Slacker. Dan Evans would need to score 40 tries to be considered for Wales.

I thought Wales were opposed to capping people whop've played age-grade rugby for someone else?

We dont really do "project players" here, but if someone has met the current eligibility laws and is willing and good enough to play for us, I'd take them in a heart beat. McNichol also come December. I think the 5 year rule is a much more healthy ruling, but as it stands, they meet the criteria and so Im happy for them to play.

Now whether of not they get picked or not is another question, but Welsh management wouldl be crazy not to look at Halaholo for the RWC squad as we have a paucity of strength at Centre.

Agreed. I don't like the rule, but if it exists and others take advantage of it, then we should as well.

With such a small talent pool, Wales need all the help it can get.

Competition for places has seen Wales develop first and second choice front and back rows which will stand us in good stead in the autumn. More backs who are qualified will certainly help especially if we lose key players (God forbid) to long term injury during the RWC.

Competition in the centres would be useful. I’m less concerned by the wing where there are already 5 players who could take part, although McNicoll could prove to be valuable.

Now we just need some competition at scrum half which looks a bit lacking.

I see that Max Clark is back playing and just resigned with Bath - still only 23 - hes one that has been mentioned in the past as a potential centre for Wales.

We still have to see how the Webb situation plays out , at the end of the season - theres still a glimmer of hope.. WoL touting Rhodri Williams as the best 9 in the regions at the moment.

Scrum half could be a weakness at World Cup if we sustain a few injuries between now and kickoff in the autumn.

Webb back in Wales this summer would help but even he can have erratic games at times.

Gatland thinks Tomos Williams is the real deal but he needs more exposure, especially in the warm up games in the summer.

Keeping the squad free from major injury over the next six months is going to be key (as it is for all the Tier One nations).
