This is a very serious blow to us, a key player with extremely bad luck.

Hardly surprising. Those boys are flogged by club & country. Not as bad as the English lads mind...

Such a pity for him and us as you always want to see the best players at the RWC and I reckon he would have been a star. I don't think its as big an issue for Wales as it would have been a couple of years ago, with the excellent back row players who have come through.

Hes been broken almost constantly since he moved to Bath, would be interesting to see how many times hes actually played for Wales since moving.

How much is that merely correlation and not causation? For instance I think Bath would reject the idea that a broken collarbone whilst training with and for Wales is something they have any control over

I didn't say Bath were at fault just an observation. IIRC when he was at the Dregs he was relativly injury free, since his move he most certainly hasn't, I was actually surprised Bath offered him an extension considering how often hes broken. Who knows whats causing it, Wales techniques, Bath techniques, age, or just plain luck. Whichever it is, rugby is being robbed of a superb tallent

A real shame, totally gutting for him I'm sure.

We've had to manage without him for a while so we'll be okay, but I hoped he'd turned the corner.

Hope this is just a succession of bad luck rather than something more worrying for his career.

Or the unsuccessful surgery for that matter - which just leaves the original forearm fracture...

I've not known anyone saying forearm fractures lead to collarbone issues, but maybe

I suppose it's possible that he was - consciously or unconsciously - protective of his arm and so left himself more open to another injury elsewhere.

But that's total speculation - more likely it was just really bad luck.

Well...he's really only missed out in 2018 and 2019.

Pre-Bath
2011: 11 tests (3 preRWC WU, 7 RWC, 1 December)
2012: 10 (5 6N, 1 June, 4 Nov)
2013: 9 (5 6N, 1 Lions, 3 Nov)
2014: 11 (5 6N, 2 June, 4 Nov)
2015: 12 (5 6N, 3 preRWC WU, 4 RWC)

Bath
2016: 10 (5 6N, 1 weird test v Eng in May, 3 June, 1 Nov)
2017: 11 (4 6N, 3 Lions, 4 Nov/Dec)
2018: 2 (2 6N)

I think it's a real blow. As well as depriving us of a proven test match winner, it lowers our average caps in the XV quite a lot and number of caps seems to be a big indicator of RWC success. If We had Moriarty, Tipuric, Faletau that is 56 caps less than Navidi, Tipuric, Moriarty. Even more dramatic if Wainwright plays...

Massive loss, a real top quality player. We have better cover at 8 than we did previously, but Faletau is special.

Gutted for him.
I think Wales can manage the loss. He'll be a miss when the 'red wedge' are arriving,...
He's quality as the back of the diamond.

I haven't seen a lot of this young man,......some of my English backrow mates consider him to be big quality.
