So, I'm moving to Bulgaria in the next few weeks in a very unplanned and uncoordinated way.
I have managed to talk to most of my contractors but still have issues with two:

Mobile contract:24 month contract ending in October

Internet Provider: 18 month contract ending in November.

I have tried to negotiate something but the fees are quite expensive and I'm not really keen on paying these fees.
Has anyone here had similar issues?
I'm pretty stretched for cash right now having paid other fees as well as the moving costs.

This is How its happening at the moment.
Actually won't be able to pay that amount for the next few months while settling in. What happens if I don't? All in all its about £500.

I have never left unpaid debt before and have paid all other expensive cancellation fees and debt. However I'm not very happy having to pay theses fees, especially as the service provided was pretty poor (and am pretty skint right now).

When I moved from France to the UK,french laws enabled me to close my mobile contract as I was moving abroad.

What would stop anyone who is moving abroad from taking out ten phone contracts and then just not pay?!?

Well nothing.. except their credit rating would be ruined and they'd end up with a CCJ.

True. As long as you never plan on moving back again. It's difficult enough without an outstanding CCJ as well.

True. As long as you never plan on moving back again. It's difficult enough without an outstanding CCJ as well.

There is that.

Contracts at viewed very differently under English law compared to European. The only option is to throw yourself on their mercy. I'm aware of companies giving breaks in contract to servicemen detached overseas, but never complete cancellation.

I don't think I will move back to the UK, unless I get a very well payed position (unlikely to happen). Also I'm part French, and would probably move back there first.

I'll call them to try and see if I can push back payment. Paying Debt in £ when paid in Lvs is not something I relish.
