Germany Vs England

England doing fairly well so far. Had a few half chances but nothing clear cut....pleasing to see us being able to move the ball around the box quite well but just lacking for that final pass. Alli looks a natural at this level.

Germany just had a goal ruled out for offside. Poor decision as it looked good.

Kroos scores for Germany. Crisp shot but Butland could've done better but looks like he was struggling with an injury picked up a few minutes before.

Germany finished the half in typical fashion and could have increased their lead.

They really should be 2-0 up considering they had a perfectly legit goal ruled out. England have pressed well, created some chances. Some promising signs but really need to get a better return for their efforts.

Should be 1-1! Welbeck does really well chasing a lost cause. Squares it to Henderson who sees his first time shot deflect over the crossbar. Would've liked to have seen Alli on the end of that pass.

And then Germany score within a minute!

Gomez pretty much left to head in unopposed thanks to peeling off to meet Khedira's smart cross.

Balls. Hard to see a way back from 2-0 down.

England's defensive line is a being exposed.

Fucking hell. We could be in front! First Henderson and then Alli misses a sitter!

What a performance. It may only be a friendly but this was a good German team who themselves played pretty well on the whole but we outplayed them in the end.

If we can perform like that in the Euros, then we could well surprise a few people.

We do have a lot of talent at the moment and it seems Woy is finally seeing sense in giving the talent a go.

Great comeback and an excellent 2nd half from England I thought. Kane and Vardy are a dangerous duo for sure and there's some real young talent emerging in this England side.
It's been a good week for England sport, Grand slam in the rugby, reaching the t20's world cup cricket semi final earlier and now beating Germany 3-2 away.
Long may it continue.

Like at his club, Rooney's starting place in the team is now questionable. He's been a good skipper for his country so far though.

And there's the problem with naming a permenant captain, as in rugby, instead of having 1 on a game to game basis.
If the capt. doesn't deserve a place in the starting line-up on form you still have to play him cos he's captain.
Is it in the rules that you need to have a designated captain in your squad or is it just 'tradition'?

Love it, brilliant from the spurs boys as well. That is what international football should be like.

I think you just need a captain for each game that is designated by whoever runs the team, that could even be a player collective.
The honour for a set term seems to follow tradition even down to school and junior sides where teams can be landed a numpty usually due to connections or social standing. In professional sport it shouldn't enter into it but influence of sponsors and certain players appear to sway manager selections.
Fabio seemed always cagey about team selections
and kept his options open.

I remember at Junior rugby level, it was always the coach's son who seemed to be either fly half or captain or both...

I couldn't believe Germany let this slip with nearly 70% possession, but hey ho, well done the young fellahs with the three lions on their tits.

Makes it even more impressive that England managed 19 shots to their 10 and 6 on target to their 2.
