The "Who did Sarries steal from your club" game

A poster on the Sarries board has come up with a fun game* - who did Sarries steal from your club! I've had a go for Bris but could only think of Mako:

1. Barf
2. Brizzle - Mako
3. Glaws
4.Tiggers - made Manu way more expensive....
5.Newcastle
6.Northampton - Ashton
7. Sale
8. Wasps - Daly, Billy V
9. Wuss - Singleton
10. Irish - Skuse
11. Quin's - Strettle
12. Bedford - Taylor

Struggling with some of the others though.... Did Ashton go from Saints or Sale?

* may actually have been getting stroppy about claims Sarries were making players unaffordable for their "home" clubs.

Singleton was in Sarries junior academy. They ‘stole’ Duncan Taylor from us.

Ashton went from Saints. You appear to have missed off Quins from your list, who I believe are still irked about Strettle.

They also stole James Johnstone from us, though considering his latter form, we were happy with that.

Lozowski was stolen from Wasps.

Josh Ibuanopke can be added to the Quins list too

Richard Wigglesworth, Charlie Hodgson, Alex Sanderson, Ian Fullarton, Kevin Yates and Andy Kyriacou from Sale.

I suppose we got David Seymour and Jono Ross coming the other way, so not all one-way traffic

Do prem wins count? :D

Borthwick and Goode off the top of my head

Matt Stevens wouldn't really count as a theft

We've courted Ben Spencer before, so would you count their cheating to prevent us stealing one of theirs?

Jono Ross via Stade Français though

Further back Wasps did take Ibanez and Jacobs from Sarries, but I wouldn't class those as "steals."

Good point out us too (2015)

And yes Banquo - Alex Goode was Bath academy. His reasons for moving depend on who's talking, so I don't know if it's a real steal or not

Yes I realised that after I posted- he was actually a steal from my club if being purist :). The local word was not a real steal.

I’m confused as to what/who constitutes a ‘steal’?

Your local knowledge will be far less biased than I have access to.
I've heard everything from "his parents moved" through "moved for school" to "moved for a scholarship +£££"

Borthwick was a real steal, under any definition, complete with a big "F*** you" by announcing on pretty much the first day that talks were allowed

from the discussion on the board "steal" means that the players club aren't able to match the money offered by Sarries. For example we couldn't afford to keep Mako, Glaws offered more than us but then Sarries offered a load more & Glaws couldn't compete. So a player club X wants to keep but can't as Sarries were able to pay more (by cheating the cap).

So, of the Sale ones, would put Charlie, Wiggy and Alex S in the blatant steal category by Sarries

Mells, you confused me there- thought you meant Duncan Taylor was knicked from Wuss... will amend my list.

I was being flippant. Sarries could’ve offered him a bag of half eaten chips and it would’ve blown his Bedford contract out of the water. Not sure whether he had offers from any other Prem clubs but I doubt he was in high demand.

Daly was exactly the same. As was Billy come to think of it. Hmmm, almost as if something improper was going on

Lozowski too. Plenty of people saying he was definitely gone as the season was just starting.

Saints also had Segun and Clark pinched, but again not sure if these really count as 'steals'. I was more annoyed about Segun at the time because I thought he might develop to be more of a player than he current has, with no disrespect towards him

To be fair to Sarries though Wasps then took over and had Taylor and Gaskell, whilst Foden's scrum half delusion means you can't really class what Saints did as stealing, even if they did know full well they were going to put him at full back too.

Both of those clubs had a field day few years on poaching Sale players - for Wasps in addition to Taylor and Gaskell, there was also Chris Bell, Miller, McIntyre and Odogwu, and that's just the current squad!

For Saints, when Jim Mallinder joined them, he did a wholesale ransacking of Sale taking Lobbe Snr, Barry Stewart, Christian Day, Chris Mayor and Ben Foden (and Nick Johnson from the back room) and subsequently Luther Burrell and Alex Mitchell amongst others
