Embarrassing for baxter after he said they should stop covid testing. A real shame as it would have been a cracker.

Oh dear.
Cant say its a a major shock having a game cancelled. It wont be the last in all likelihood.
Pity as this one could have been a cracker.

My enthusiasm for club rugby this season is at an all time low. The format for this years champions cup is terrible, and now the reigning champs could well be out after 1 game. Ugh, can’t be arsed with it.

Sarries have been blamed for it in a leaked report from a Chiefs board meeting apparently.

Rob is generally a sensible bloke but i thought at the time his comments about testing were ill informed and just a bit complacent.

So do Glasgow have to forfeit their match through no fault of their own?

You'd want to be playing Chiefs in the Prem next weekend...

Glasgow v Lyon is off too. Not sure how the points are allocated.

Tbh, it's not really Exeter's fault either (unless it's proven that their players did something stupid). Feels like any cancelled games should be treated like they were in the RWC, as a 0-0 draw.

I read somewhere Toulouse will get a 5point win and 25-0 victory no points for Exe, Warriors game will be a draw. Covid was in Exeter pre the match although Chiefs fans are trying to blame Warriors for it...

Last european champ games french clubs having players with covid were eliminated

So Toulouse and Racing, fearing that, didn't gather the weeks before their games and did not train to avoid players getting contaminated.

Of course this has certainly been a negative point too to prepare their final games

Racing had an outbreak a couple of weeks before the final didn’t they?

Prem have changed their rules this season so that the team who can’t put a team out due to COVID get 2 points, their opponents get 4.

Covid's everywhere though! I don't get why having an outbreak makes a team morally culpable for a cancelled game. If there was a storm that washed out a game, we wouldn't say that the away side should have a 5 point win because the home side were responsible for the game not going ahead. Unless their team have done something stupid like going out partying or shaking hands in a COVID ward, I don't see why Exeter are to blame.

They cant put out a side. They take the hit. Might be harsh but those are the rules.

Isn't that exactly what we do - when the match can't be replayed later?

Not in the RWC - it was draws all round if a game couldn't be played because of events outside of the teams' control (and would've been the same if a Japan game had been cancelled).

Do we know that’s the rule though? As I said up the page the points are being split 4 - 2 in the prem this year if a club can’t put a team out.
