New US president, new US politics thread.
I expect this to be less filled with gaffs and anger - not to mention, simply less filled.
NB: I do not like summary firings for anyone, that's not fair. But this does send a strong message

Back to criticising policy rather than existence

The change in tone and language is a relief hopefully he can make changes that actually help the bottom 20% of Americans

I've been pleasantly surprised by the policy so far. Cancelling Keystone XL, executive orders on masks, federal vaccine control, lots of good stuff. Plus I like the look of the For The People Act that they're putting as first business before the Senate - expanding access to voting, early voting, mail-in voting, electoral rolls, suffrage for felons, more polling places. It'll do a lot to shut down the voter suppression that the Republicans rely on, if they can get it through, and it's a bold thing to be opening up with.

They need to walk the walk after talking the talk. It absolutely cannot be another stale pale male administration. I’m very happy that they are walking back that 1776 bullshit. Domestic cracker terrorism is an acute issue that is a pile of dog shit that needs to be negotiated en route to everything here.

Bring back the Fairness Doctrine, and add a rider that says "Ronald Wilson Reagan was a fuckman."

Boris was asked the other day if Biden is 'woke'. Even he seemed to be shocked at such low grade journalism. It's tragic just how low we've come.

I'm not at all surprised. He wasn't my pick at the start of the primaries but everything I've seen since convinces me that he's a sincere and decent man. I think he's actually perfect for the moment. I listened to an interview with his biographer who was saying that Joe reckons that his centrist credentials give him cover for making substantial change without people saying it's a secret socialist plot.

Joe Biden's already had an article of impeachment filed against him, when he's barely had a chance to develop his buttgrooves on the Oval Office chair.
It's Marjorie Taylor Greene though, and she's one of those Q Anon, Sandy Hook & Parkland truther nutcases.

Not the most insightful journalism, but equally amusing to see how the anti-woke warriors in the cabinet are struggling with this one, having spent the last few years disparaging all things woke.
