Exciting game, though quite sloppy at times by both sides. POM's brain fart is unforgivable and quite likely cost Ireland the game. Ruined the match as an even contest but Ireland still could have nicked it with a little tighter play.

Felt sorry for Burns at the end. Even though it’s not exactly a great Welsh side, it would have been a famous win, away from home and down to 14 men for over an hour.

As it happens Jameson's is my favourite whisky. There is apparently also a bar on the main street named after my family. A few years ago I reconnected the Welsh, Australian and American branches of the family for the first time since the great Hunger (thanks to DNA matching).

I really ought to visit Midleton.
