I was thinking that there isn't a thread about favourite documentaries and I like documentaries so I've started this one, notable ones I've seen:

Senna
Searching for Sugarman
Andre the Giant
The Untold series of documentaries on Netflix
Maradona
Formula One Drive to Survive
Blackfish
Amy
OJ Made in America
Apollo 11
The Eagle Huntress
Class Action Park
Tiger King
Making a Murderer

to start off with.

Good thread.

Really enjoyed the Eagle Huntress.

Try Skid Row Marathon, it is excellent.

Also, not a Documentary, but a Docu/Drama which is good is Spacewalker.

by Which Tyler
Senna was great.
Just about anything by David Attenborough
Origins Of Us & The Incredible Human Journey - both by Alice Roberts
History of Britain by Simon Schama
Bettany Hughes and Michael Wood have done excellent history series as well - Terry Jones too, for that matter
Not sure if it counts - but They Shall Not Grow Old by Peter Jackson

I think your list can be improved substantially Numbers - I would say stuff like tigerking is entertaining maybe but rubbish essentially

Will add a few more but these 3 for starters

Capturing the friedmans
Big riverman
Man on wire

I did add a couple of frivolous ones, see also Class Action Park.

Man on Wire is excellent, I haven't seen the other two.

Another good one is A Year in the Taiga about a remote region of Siberia

Happened across Garage People on BBC4 about people living in the Arctic Circle in Russia and how they found solace in their "garages". Fascinating if a little bonkers.

And its not even Herzog's best, the cave of forgotten dreams is his best imo

Herzog, Theroux, Burns and Nick broomfield. Serious amount of material there

Have also watched Adam Curtis's Century of self, Hypernormalisation and bitter lake, well worth a look though not sure about the man himself

I watched Broomfield's Tupac and Biggie documentary last night funnily enough.

I've not heard of The Cave of Forgotten Dreams so I'll keep my eye out for that.

On the untold series episode 4 on ice hockey was a bizarre selection?

I thought the mardy fish episode the best

I watched Drew: The Man Behind the Poster on Sky Docs the other day, really interesting film about Drew Struzan who painted the posters for pretty much every big film I can think of.
