Has passed away. Genuinely emotional, even though we knew it was coming. We'll not see his like again.

Great player and club man, unassuming and humble throughout.
Sad loss. Different era and different class.

A true Lion in ‘97, beating the Boks in their own backyard.

Just desperately sad news. Selfishly not ready for my sporting heroes to die.

One of our very best ever.

I was once playing in a club under 16 tournament with maybe 12 teams at it. He went round every squad having a natter and passing on tips. Just seemed like a normal guy but when he crossed that white line he was something special.

Top player and, as you've said, always came across very normal and likeable.

My favourite memory has to be a try he scored late on to draw 28 all with Wales. Despite coming across as quite old school, he had all the skills of a modern prop.

I took up rugby after Tom Smith changed the expectations of a prop so I never had the opportunity to waddle from scrum to scrum!

Just a great player and an example to everyone of how to deal with success or adversity. Unfortunately, we knew this news was coming but I was always hoping it would be a bit further in the future

One of my favourites growing up, who had to play in some dreadful Scottish teams. Will always remember him hauling our bacon out of the fire against Fiji in the world cup.
