One way of speeding up the game. Presumably 6 forwards and six backs. How long before this catches on elsewhere?

It's not to do with speeding up the game, as far as I'm aware. It's an adaptation for the community game so that, if a team can only raise 13 or 14, the oppo have to match them rather than being able to annihilate them with 15. It's been standard practice in England all this season so far and, as someone who plays at 3rd team level, I'm all in favour of it.

Yep, I've played a 12 a side game this season, shorter halves too. Means games can still go ahead which is great.

This has been in for a while I'm Sweden. The issues that I have had with it are that there are clubs who train for 12 a side and never play 15s and also one situation where a visiting team turned up with 15 players but demanded to play 12s. That was my last game of first team rugby and was so bad tempered it put me off. That wasn't 12s fault mind, mostly due to the opposition being cunts even by the poor standards of Swedish rugby sportsmanship. I still get angry at the memory.

My initial reaction, was oh jeez on 12 - a side. But this a great way of viewing it- it would certainly be popular at my club, where we have enough players for just over 3 teams signed up, but rarely have that number available.

Apart from the practical benefits of keeping fixtures going at a junior level, anything that promotes scores from skill and speed due to more space can't be bad.
( how do the backs line up ? SH, FB Two × 5/8, & Wingers ? )
