What happened for the etzebeth try before half time? I was in the other room and missed it bar a brief replay. Was it like jvp against NZ that the ball was to the side of the ruck?

I've not seen it but seen it described as the ref not treating an arm bind as a full bind so the ball was out. Unsure if that tallies though.

I do like watching quins but I am sad that they make me agree with dayglo, their attitude does lead them into some stupid shit.

Etzebeth picked up the ball at the back of a ruck after last man Marler became unbound. It was smart play and the ref got it absolutely right. Dull stuff from Marler & Care.
Terrific game. Lots of enterprise, bright play, neat tries and good individual performances.

Couldn’t catch it. Any statements made regarding England selection?

Thought all the England players had good games. Pretty encouraging all round.

I actually thought that was Quins best game of the season. Defence and lineout were a huge improvement on recent weeks.
The Etzebeth try was correctly awarded, but it’s a law that is almost never applied to the letter. If that’s the new precedent, the ball is going to be considered ‘out’ in loads of rucks, but it really depends on how consistently the law is applied.
Clever play by Etzebeth and a lack of attention to detail from Marler, but Care has to come in for the most criticism. He put all his effort in to complaining when he should have been attempting to stop Etzebeth. Even if he hadn’t brought him down, he probably would have been able to slow him down enough to stop him scoring.

Or picked and went. He had his hands on it and then let go when he saw who was coming at him ...

Absolutely correct decision - there's been a lot of lazy binding with caterpillar rucks of late and it's good to see a ref making a positive decision like that.
