He's not that fast, is he? He had enough chances to put a couple of Ts away, but butchered them all. Wouldn't have happened with Shane.

I was trying to think who our modern day Shane would be? Keelan Giles maybe? He's looked in good form for the o's and had been injury free for a while now so maybe has a chance ( though Gatland still likes big wings).

LRZ will probably come straight back in once fit, so I guess its Dyer or cuthbert until then. Or moving north or liam Williams back to the wing.

While its too early to write Dyer off I do think he's been given his chance too soon. Not that he's bad, just that there are better options. For me (admittedly with my Ospreys bias) Keelan Giles is playing better rugby, and is in his prime now. Dyer could wait a year or two (and will improve).

At least Dyer was trying. Circumstances did give him a chance of international rugby earlier in his career than might have been expected, but he is still learning. I think overall he has done OK.

Keelan Giles was a stunning prospect before injuries robbed him of the start to an international career. Obviously at some stage he has to come back into the mix. He is seriously quick!

Regan Grace should be playing again by late March.

Conbeer is powerful and knows his way to the tryline, but his relative lack of height counts against him.

Grace is a very exciting prospect.

Dyer went looking for work and was largely in credit at the end of the game. LRZ would go straight in ahead of him in my opinion with Adams on the other wing but there were worse players out there by a country mile.

I thought Dyer looked okay, I'd rather have seen Conbeer or Gies there, but it's all deckchairs on the Titanic while we're getting monstered up front and cocking up set-pieces. If we had the quality of ball to get him into space 3 or 4 times a game, we'd probably all be very happy with Dyer.

The thing that goes against Giles and Conbeer is their height, with the preponderance of box kicking in the modern game you need a winger to be good under the high ball, unfortunately when you're short this is an issue.

I think Dyer's a good player, Pivac mentioned that in previous squad training camps he is good under the high ball which was one of his reasons for selecting him, he's scored some very good tries this campaign for the Dragons too.

Said to my dad a couple of times, "Shane would've scored that."

Doesn't have the finishers instinct. Did run some nice lines though. I'm undecided but wouldn't start him v Scotland

He's also scored 2 tries in 3 Internationals so not bad really, those being against NZ and Australia.

He scores a lot of lucky tries. But so did Shane Williams. Williams had a knack for being in the right place at the right time, and luck favours blokes like that. Its more instinct than luck Maybe Dyer is the same.

The best two wingers we have are Adams and LRZ. Since the latter is injured Dyer is worthy of his place from his club performances. He looked a bit hesitant at times on Saturday but he also showed up a lot which is a big positive.

To be fair though, Shane was a pretty special talent. Just looking at the WRU site's top 12 try scores for Wales, Shane's top on 58, then North on 43. Of the other wingers on the list in the current squad, Shane has more tries than Adams, Cuthbert and Liam Williams combined!

Shane was so small too, the other wingers couldn't get low enough to tackle properly. Could run through the legs

For that cross-kick try Dyer looked like he simply couldn't be bothered to get across and attempt a tackle.

I realize that's not true, but how it LOOKS is important.

We have other fit wingers in form for their regions, so I think Dyer has now made enough errors to be given extra homework.
