Luton FC’s promotion and how it compares to english rugby

Sorry if this is too football focused, but it was interesting to see Luton FC get promoted to the premier league despite having a capacity of 10,000 as well as various other things which would likely make them difficult to enter the Gallagher premiership.
I believe they also get a 50 million payment on entering the premier league to help renovate their stadium and put together a more competitive squad. Compare this to the english league and the lack of promotion and relegation.
Obviously the money in rugby and football is massively different, but to me that makes it more ridiculous that the gallagher wouldn’t promote teams that don’t meet minimum criteria, the football prem will likely lose money with a team like Luton in the prem vs Leeds, Leicester or Southampton.

I think the difference is that they don't get given a special £50m to help them out, that's just their equal share of the TV money for one year. The Premier League can afford to have a team that has a stadium a seventh of the size of the largest because they're not in an existential crisis.
Also, worth noting that the Premier League does also have minimum standards for facilities and Luton are going to have to spend £10m of that £50m to upgrade their stadium before they can play, even though they're planning on ditching that stadium and moving to a new one in a few years.

The fact is that none of those teams are really going to make any difference to the earning potential of the league.

Bournemouth have survived so far on similar gates. Maybe, it's more that one or two out of twenty having small ground capacity matters little with half a dozen or more big clubs a level down waiting to take over.

Yeah, TV income is a huge differential.
Another is the lack of any any real transfer market. Driven largely by having less money in the game and transfer fees being included in the cap (I believe - happy to be corrected)
If this was football, LI for example could cash in on a few hot prospects like Arundell and Pearson to help the bottom line and reinvest in the way that mid tier football clubs do
