That was one for the ages. I was expecting us to scrape pass with a score difference, but that was class.

My heart rate's a lot lower than it was a fortnight ago!

One thing everyone seems to have missed. We're the first team to actually qualify for the knockout phase

That was so satisfying. Although had to explain to my 10 y/o why I was cackling like a cartoon supervillain every time the scoreboard got better and I don't think my explanation necessarily reflected all the values of "don't gloat, be kind and respectful to people, mocking the afflicted is a dick move" that I've spent the last 10 years trying to teach her.

My sister put a £1 bet on Australia to win and was taking the piss pre-match. I enjoyed the last 78 minutes of that match more that she did.

It's a very strange feeling going into the last quarter thinking "I wonder how many we're going to win by"

I think I started to be sure of victory when the lead got to 26 points. 23 just didn't seem enough. 34 was nice though.

But Tompkins's try was the best moment.

Yeah, I had to stare at the tables to believe it, but it's true. No one else is actually safe. Ireland could be knocked out by Scotland etc.

We're obviously the best. Case closed. 8-)

Nah, there's no way that actually happened.

Should be able to conjure up a lottery win and pull Rachel Weiss before I wake up, though.

I don't think we're quite ready to beat Ireland or France. But if we play like we did today, both of those teams would have to work bloody hard for the win.

Yeah, this is the cold water. We're not as shit as Oz but we're not good enough to beat the best. Teams who are better than us will get knocked out next week.

Well done Wales. An interesting experiment on the difference a good coach can make to a team. You've a real chance to go a long way in this comp now and I'll be shouting for you every step.

Good to have got qualification done, and with the best part of a fortnight before the Georgia game, there'll be time for the players to rest and recover. Sounds like it'll be too soon for Biggar but there's a good chance he wouldn't have played that one anyway.

Tompkins thoroughly deserved his try. He’s brought a new dimension to our attack.

We can put a humiliating six nations behind us that’s for sure.

I’ve been following Wales since the 1950s, through all the ups and downs of the intervening years but I think this result must rank up there amongst the top ten. So many demons were laid to rest, especially the one where Australia always seem to come back and beat us by less than a seven point score.

Well done Wales. Let’s hope our RWC efforts will inspire a new generation of youngsters into grass roots rugby.

Also, whisper it quietly, but Henry Thomas's cameo was very good. I expected our scrum to backpedal a bit when the cavalry came on but it didn't.

Yep, bloody good show.

Mind you, this was the Australian team beaten 38-7 a couple of months ago by arguably the worst All Blacks team of the professional era, but minus all the good players e.g. Tupou, Ala'alatoa, Uelese, Skelton, Cooper and Gordon (I know, but he's technically their no. 1 fly-half so...)

You can only beat what’s in front of you and that’s what we did - comprehensively.

And this is one of the things we've been crying out for- a comprehensive victory. How often have over the last 2 years or so have Wales been leading comfortably, only to let the opposition back in, regardless of the quality of that opposition? Yesterday they had Australia in a stranglehold for most of the game, and for once they didnt let go. Great to see!

Just like after Fiji, the after-match discourse is like oxygen to the flames of our Welsh persecution complex. Oh how sad, how awful for the game, rugby needs a strong Australia... FFS, Yeah I remember all those shaftings we've had from SANZAR over the years, and how everyone was so sad for us, and said it was a disaster for the global game, which needed a strong Wales... oh no, wait...
