Unable to make payments over the web

I often get an issue where I'm trying to pay for something on t'internet, get most of the way thru and to the stage where I have to approve the transaction in the banking app, and after approving in the app the web site crashes and the payment doesn't go thru.
Is it just bad website design, or a setting on my phone?

The site must realise you are Scottish and thinks you’ve been hacked.
