So it looks as though Rob Evans is out and Brown and Webb.
Andrews set to start and Rhodri Jones bought into the squad to cover from the bench.
Jesus.

So Rob Evans is fit, the fail as accurate as ever.Numbers wrote:Wales: Leigh Halfpenny; Hallam Amos, Scott Williams, Hadleigh Parkes, Steff Evans; Dan Biggar, Aled Davies; Rob Evans, Kristian Dacey, Scott Andrews; Cory Hill, Alun Wyn Jones; Aaron Shingler, Josh Navidi, Taulupe Faletau.

I'm pleased to see Aled Davies given a shot, he has a point of difference from the other two and his service is faster.
Andrews it is then, boo.

An the Bokke are about to line up their heaviest player ever against him. If Andrews were a decent scrummager it wouldn't matter, however.......Numbers wrote:So Rob Evans is fit, the fail as accurate as ever.Numbers wrote:Wales: Leigh Halfpenny; Hallam Amos, Scott Williams, Hadleigh Parkes, Steff Evans; Dan Biggar, Aled Davies; Rob Evans, Kristian Dacey, Scott Andrews; Cory Hill, Alun Wyn Jones; Aaron Shingler, Josh Navidi, Taulupe Faletau.

On a positive note, provided our backline can get some decent ball, I'm keen to see how Parkes gets on and hopefully Watkin will get some game time, Patchell too.

Ken Owens is apparently injured, so far the Scarlets have lost, JD, Ball, Ken and Samson to injury, not good.

Well there you go ... Scott Andrews and Rhodri Jones must train well.Numbers wrote:So Rob Evans is fit, the fail as accurate as ever.Numbers wrote:Wales: Leigh Halfpenny; Hallam Amos, Scott Williams, Hadleigh Parkes, Steff Evans; Dan Biggar, Aled Davies; Rob Evans, Kristian Dacey, Scott Andrews; Cory Hill, Alun Wyn Jones; Aaron Shingler, Josh Navidi, Taulupe Faletau.

How can the 3rd choice tight head props from Ospreys and Blues get a start and a bench place.
Aled Davies needs to be given a shot because of the imminent departure of Webb at the end of the season.
I hope Seb Davies gets plenty of game time ..the same for Patchell.

It's frightening how shite our options are at tighthead.

We do have some youngsters who look promising which is something, why they don't give one of them ago instead of Andrews I don't know, they surely can't be much worse.PoolerSaint wrote:It's frightening how shite our options are at tighthead.

South Africa: Andries Coetzee; Dillyn Leyds, Jesse Kriel, Francois Venter, Warrick Gelant; Handré Pollard, Ross Cronje; Steven Kitshoff, Malcolm Marx, Wilco Louw, Eben Etzebeth, Lood de Jager, Siya Kolisi, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Dan du Preez.
Replacements: Bongi Mbonambi, Trevor Nyakane, Ruan Dreyer, Oupa Mohoje, Uzair Cassiem, Louis Schreuder, Elton Jantjies, Lukhanyo Am
So they aren't playing the young monster prop which is something.

It used to be I'd heard of and could name pretty much the whole south African team, nowadays I probably know 1 or 2 of them.

Totally agree...if we are going to have an issue at 3 then why not at least put one of these lads on the bench as Sandy said earlier ..at least they learn and develop and they and the coaches will know more about them .

Re: Wales v SA
Good to see Davies at 9; as Webb is fit this represents an unusual gamble by the coaches. If he goes well, I see our backs causing them some problems IF we can get the ball.
But it's a pretty poor situation where we 're worried about the tight not because we fear their pack, but because we fear ours...

Hasn't Andrews been getting good reviews at Bath this year?
Of course with no Cuthbert or Priestland this board needs someone to pre-blame.

If the Bokke play traditionally it’s going to be a long afternoon. We are lacking a lot of firepower up front.Sourdust wrote:Good to see Davies at 9; as Webb is fit this represents an unusual gamble by the coaches. If he goes well, I see our backs causing them some problems IF we can get the ball.

Re: Wales v SA
Well...apparently our forwards coach .Mr Mcbryde says Wales should avoid set pieces against the Boks. ...the man is a tactical genius. ..there is just no way of getting away from it
That will instill a feeling of strength and confidence into the pack and get the Saffers trembling. ...

I know we're two tries up...but still...we should have scored against a disrupted defence from 1 yard out

Excellent start from Wales. Boks caught napping a couple of times, but a couple of deft kicks and some decent hands and Wales have two good tries on the board.
