If you could make 3 signings for your club who would you buy?
I am a Quins fan. If I won big on the lottery, I’d sign:
Tommy Taylor
Kwagga Smith
Jonny Gray
All three of those are allegedly on the market at the moment and we’ve been linked with Smith. I can’t see that happening mind ...
Who would you go for? At least semi-realistic targets though - I’m not thinking of Rieko Ioane to replace Yarde or Beauden Barrett to help Marcus Smith’s development here!

Re: If you could make 3 signings for your club who would you buy?
Depends on how we're playing it. I mean, if we're picking anyone at all, then I'd have Itoje, Launchbury and BVunipola. However, they're not particularly likely to happen, not least because Billy won't play for a different club to Mako.
A more interesting way to look at it is players where you could imagine that the move might plausibly happen, even if it's not actually going to. For Leicester, I'd say:
Paul Hill
Jonny Gray
Lewis Ludlam
Puja
ETA. Who do you support again sh?

i’m a Quins fan.
I was thinking of signings that you’d like that are at least semi-realistic. I don’t think there’s a cat in hell’s chance Quins will sign any of the three I have listed, but they’re all rumoured to be looking at moves and we’ve been directly linked with Smith.
I’ll tweak the OP, although Puja - you pretty much got exactly what I had in mind.

Don't have a club, as such, but if I was starting one, Faletau would be the first name on the list, followed by Launchbury and Itoje.

For Bedford.....blimey, I’ll have to think outside of the box. Jamie Elliott - local who doesn’t seem to have quite made it at a top Prem club but will only drop down for none rugby reasons. Parisse - one last payday at an easier level. Would hopefully engage the huge Italian community in the town. I’ll cheat slightly for the last one and go for a coach. That would be anyone who could teach us who to defend against and attack with a rolling maul. Ben Kay would probably be the man.

Something like Lee Imiolek, Marius Antonescu and Tom Casson, for Moseley. Though even then we'd at best be a low ranked Championship team so the money would likely do better being spent on beer

For Quins, I would like to sign...
Wayne Smith
Dave Ellis
Joe Launchbury
That'll do me. Though if Smith and Ellis have to pull on their boots, we'd be in serious trouble

got to be a little gutting as a quins fan to know you had launchbury once and let him go....
as a wasps fan I can empathise. would love to have harry williams in from chiefs. ex wasps academy...
so three semi-realistic wasps signings?
- TH prop - harry williams or sinckler. the latter might just start to fancy a bit of rejuvenation if he keeps getting ignored by eddie
- LH prop - I'd still love to see the Beast even in his twighlight years. he'd be able to teach mcintyre and our youngsters a thing or two
- probably a really tidy 12 who hits above his weight class and has an incredibly low error count. I wanted Toomua. I'd settle for alex dunbar or Matt scott though.

Interesting to see you mention those names. Wasps have looked at times to have a backline full of guys trying to make the outside break and nobody to actually hold the defence. Scott would certainly be a good shout there. Dunbar can truck it up well enough but the difference he might make to the Wasps defence could make them quite a lot scarier.
I hate being reminded that Launchbury could have been a Quins player. Launch and Horwill together would be pretty handy I think.

For Glaws I'd like to see:
Aaron Smith (because I think hes the best player, in any position, in the world).
Dane Coles
Rabah Slimani

It's OK, we decided to keep Charlie Matthews instead...Mikey Brown wrote:Interesting to see you mention those names. Whoever made that decision is the rugby equivalent of the recording agent that turned down the Beatles.Bloggs wrote:It's OK, we decided to keep Charlie Matthews instead...Mikey Brown wrote:Interesting to see you mention those names. In as much as he's just been omitted from the squad for the entire autumn series and Williams seems to have moved ahead of him. Perhaps it is just mind games by jones but there seems to be something wrong when
One of the stand out English lions of the summer is now nowhere near the national set up, whilst lions who less impressive are still very much involved.
Anyway that's not really the point - staying on thread I want him at wasps.

He was banned for the whole series for gouging. Mind, Eddie was talking up that he wouldn't've selected him for Argentina if he hadn't gone with the Lions, but that was clearly an Eddie wind-up.Hucks wrote:Banquo wrote:How is Sinckler being ignored by Eddie?Hucks wrote:got to be a little gutting as a quins fan to know you had launchbury once and let him go....

Re: If you could make 3 signings for your club who would you buy?
He was available for the Samoa game. Eddie was asked after the Oz game if he’d bring him back into the squad and his response was “he’s not fit, mate”, which at the time I took to mean he’d picked up an injury...he then played for Quins at the weekend, which now makes me think he’s saying Sinckler is a fat bastard who needs to get his arse in gear and do some running.Puja wrote:He was banned for the whole series for gouging. Fair enough; he made it easy for Eddie with the gouge I guess.Timbo wrote:He was available for the Samoa game. Not fit could also mean first weekend back after a 6 week layoffTimbo wrote:He was available for the Samoa game. Could do. Can’t help but feel he’s trying to send a message to Sinckler though. He got left out of that training squad, said he wouldn’t have gone to Argentina etc...Puja wrote:Not fit could also mean first weekend back after a 6 week layoffTimbo wrote:He was available for the Samoa game. Re: If you could make 3 signings for your club who would you buy?
I believe Sinckler came back from NZ believing his own hype and a poor attitude, and Jones wouldn’t have picked him even if available whilst citing behaviour/attitude and fitness as the reasons. With Jones seemingly wedded to Cole starting and with Williams going so well from the bench, he’ll have to have a tremendous couple of months to make the 6N squad.
