Someone should teach Sexton how to not lead with his face into tackles.

Well, that's Leinster getting lucky again. Red card all day long.

Hooker straight in on Slade's head at the maul as well.

Ref bottled it. Healy will get a nice 2-4 week ban leading up to the 6N16th man wrote:Well, that's Leinster getting lucky again. Red card all day long.

Re: Exeter v Leinster
The Exeter 13 is getting caught off phase play every time by the laboured movement down the line via dummy runners. If they can execute that at pace, they will score.

Another bad decision Leinster's way. Ref keeping them in it at this point.

Random sealing off penalty for the game.

Is Nowell even the 2nd best Exeter winger?

Only saw the last 20 minutes. I see what you guys were on about with the ref. That was about 7 Leinster players off their feet in the 3 rucks before kicking it out at the end there.

Watched the end of the game. Can't think of a more one sided ref display. Every 50/50 went Leinster way

Exeter arent blameless for failing to win a game they were well in control of, but poor officiating really hurt them. Healey should have got a red. For the officials to bottle that was outrageous. There were a fair few other calls that went Leinsters way that were highly dubious.
I thought LCD and the back row were superb, and much enjoyed Slade's performance.

And when Slade is good nobody else comes close

Big plus for me was seeing that Simmonds and Kvesic can play in the same back row. Still think the former is more likely to be a 7 for England. But this way perhaps both can push for that spot.
Edit- LCD was phenomenal. If he gets an injury free run he has to be putting pressure on Hartley.

For the gazillionth time, Baxter's incredibly measured and classy in his post-match interview. http://sport.bt.com/baxter-pressure-led ... 4237341143

Re: Exeter v Leinster
Exeter’s biggest problem was that they didn’t moan. The Healy one. Not a peep from Exeter. Slade then gets held up in the tackle when the Leinster 2 comes round his neck, not a peep. Can you imagine Leinster staying quiet then? All throughout the game Exeter were almost too respectful. If you’re playing Leinster you’ve got to be more vocal.
All in all a very enjoyable game. LCD was just superb! So hope he stays fit. He a level above in his all round game, his biggest issue has been staying fit. Backrow was good. Slade looked classy.
Fair play Leinster that was an experienced performance turning that round. Really intelligent second half.

Baxter is all class. That was impressive. He is right too. Exe did make too many errors at key moments.

The praise for LCD's loose play is all fully merited, but ignores his somewhat slipshod throwing into the lineout.

Re: Exeter v Leinster
Interesting point that, about being verbal to the ref. I think in that respect, making a little FH captain is an error. It doesn't have the same impact on the ref when he looks down. Having to twist his neck to look up to a big guy counts. It shouldn't but it does.Epaminondas Pules wrote:Exeter’s biggest problem was that they didn’t moan. The Healy one. Not a peep from Exeter. I'm glad someone else mentioned that latter point. It arguably cost them the match. It will always keep him behind a fit Hartley for England too. Such a fundamental flaw is weird. I can't believe there is any lack of practise at Exeter so is it big-occasion nerves?16th man wrote:The praise for LCD's loose play is all fully merited, but ignores his somewhat slipshod throwing into the lineout.

Practice won't always be enough I'd imagine. He was also a fairly late convert, so wouldn't have practiced whilst still a child. Throwing a ball that accurately, to varying heights and lengths, under pressure and with weather conditions, is not going to always just be a matter of practice, the degree of muscle control required must be huge. Just like not everyone who practices golfing for tens of thousands of hours is always going to be capable of playing in the masters.

Re: Exeter v Leinster
Lineout can be a bunch of issues though. Exeter’s lineout has had issues with Yeandle for most of the season too, so more than just throwing. Plus, not sure there were obvious issues with the throwing, like not straight, big over throws etc.
