Not much change to Solomon's shite recruitment policy then. Some good, some atrocious. Fowles is a waste of a squad space.Chunks Baws wrote:Kennedy and Fowles have signed one year extensions.

I think questions would need to be asked of Petrie as much as AS. He stated loudly that Edinburgh were a buying club but under him the club has sold two internationals and made very limited moves outwith the SRU sphere of influence.

You are quite right. I have asked the question before - how are the pro clubs managed & financed? It seems a mystery to all.Big D wrote:I think questions would need to be asked of Petrie as much as AS. Solomons is a poor coach & selector it just seems easy to point the finger at him regarding recruitment too but you are quite right that Petrie has, thus far, not delivered on his claim.

I do agree that AS deserves plenty of criticism but for some reason Petrie's proclamation whilst making very little ground in signing players annoyed me.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:You are quite right. Yes he has resigned players, although not the big one in Nel*, but outwith the 2 signings the SRU had a hand in (I imagine) his 1 signing has been Scholes.
I do wonder, despite the good job he reportedly did with SSE that Edinburgh needed someone with pro rugby experience too. Yes Petrie was a pro but this version of pro rugby is very different than the one he left on 2007.
*That pissed me off too today. When a journo asked on twitter about any new contract for Nel the reply was he has 1 year left. So fucking what? His stock is currently high, tie him down now before it gets higher and/or English and French clubs come snooping.

So that's Scott and Beard out for next season. Rasolea in. Allen, Dean, Burleigh, and Helu under contract and Strauss and Katoa unknown. Looks marginally weaker to me (I rate Beard) and we'll need at least one more.Chunks Baws wrote:Rasolea has signed.

So much aimless kicking inside the Dragons 22. I wish coaches would start looking at that as a turnover. Because that's all it is.
If I was in the Embra tight 5 it would piss me off immensely. The amount of work they do to get to that field position, then our backs attempt a bollocks chip kick that nobody can get on the end of.

It's like I'm watching amateur rugby. Besides the Italians who are just dire these are probably the two worst teams in the league. Some good individual performances from the Edinburgh guys so far but Dragons looking more cohesive as a unit & greater than the sum of their parts.
Watson butchered that try aye - it wasn't a risk he needed to take.

I'll forgive him for that, it was close enough to go for.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:It's like I'm watching amateur rugby. Welcome back from wherever the fuck you've been by the way. Also, good win for your lot on Friday. Crowd sounded good. Am I hearing tartan army songs in there now? I swear I heard a verse of we'll be coming down the road.

The most inept kicking display I have seen. SHC is gash at box kicks

That was coming I guess. Made it a bit easy for the Dragons there. Still it's a lesson on finishing things off in the 22. Embra would have made that break then kicked it ahead. Because... You know... Kicking is fun.

What's the script with Hardie? Injured or rested? There was speculation he came off against Ireland due to injury but I've not seen any sort of official news.
