Blow shit up randomly. Wield a scalpel on a whim. Base air travel safety on a popular blog. At least the carnage will not be classist.

C- could do a lot better, particularly if you are paid to do this.rowan wrote:
The adverb personally is indeed used to separate a personal perspective from the broader one and is perfectly natural [appropriate or correct] in this sentence, as would be the reflexive pronoun myself. I know that, because it's my profession. So it seems you are griping about perfectly standard use of the English language, indicating a degree ofignorance on your own part.
Write it out a hundred times and let me have it by Monday morning.

Sure, bombard us with your own pretentious waffle on one hand, then attempt to strip language down to the bare essentials on the other. In fact, you go beyond that and alter the meaning in parts as well. So all you are demonstrating, once again, is your own ignorance of language and its many functions.

Will ye ever personally pay attention? Rowan has personally said previously on this actual thread that he personally doesn't like suits.
I would caveat this comment by saying that I don't read much of his stuff either.

I see, a sort of irrational fear of shoplifters in general then. Shopliftaphobia, we might call it, or anti-shoplifterism. I suggest you contact your nearest medical clinic and book in for an extensive program of psychotherapy. It's likely related to a repressed memory of some troubling incident in your early childhood.

Re: The Cringe/Hate Thread
Wrong again.. !
There has been a massive increase in shoplifting from 2 local supermarkets due to reduced security presence and
reduced willingness of police to take follow-up action..it is annoying to staff and shoppers who pay their way, often having to budget their funds.
There's alot of real stuff happening out there dood -
you may be surprised.

Re: The Cringe/Hate Thread
Many shoplifters are honest citizens suffering from depression. It's like blaming people for alcohol addiction, binge eating or watching British club rugby. These people are trying to find solace in something which provides them with temporary relief from their wretched existences. It's called maladaptive behavior. They need our help and support, not our loathing...

In some cases yes, and when professionals get to the root cause, support is available.
The ones I am referring to are mostly opportunistic scally-wags on the take...there are millions with equally wretched lives who choose to stay on the right side.
Have you ever experienced club rugby in Britain Rowan ?

Yes, but only a few times, I swear. I recognized the problem in its early stages and was able to kick the habit without need of professional help. The onset of the Super Rugby season cured me entirely.Galfon wrote: Have you ever experienced club rugby in Britain Rowan ?

Fortunately law-makers early on identified the negative effects of a bad trip and made it a red-card offence.

Not if its a impulse control disorder, like kleptomania. That's more of a cry for help. Often these people have turn out to be wealthy, and it's particularly common among women. Adolescents indulging in this type of behavior are invariably found to be suffering some emotional trauma as well.

This is the main reason for the upsurge...and there are many who pay multiple visits to the same store daily.
When stock loss is high enough to justify it, retailers bring security back..for a while, then it's back to square one.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
