Re: Team
Strong team that and I’m very pleased we have managed to avoid a second row at blindside. Like Morgan deserves his start, although I think Stef Evans is lucky to be on the bench and that might change when the English club players are available.Graigwen wrote:15. Leigh Halfpenny (78 Caps)

Re: Team
It is still building a large - 60+ - pool of internationally experienced players ready for the wave of injuries at World Cup time.
There is game time for players who need it after long term injury, a long awaited chance for Jarrod Evans, a hopefully fairly risk free outing for Luke Morgan, development at THP in not the most testing contest and maybe a short chance to see if Aaron Wainwright has what it takes. Correct of course to keep Patchell out of the firing line, not rush him back.

We seem to be in a good place with our pool of players. Just a few years ago injuries gave us problems finding a fully experienced match day squad of 23.Graigwen wrote:It is still building a large - 60+ - pool of internationally experienced players ready for the wave of injuries at World Cup time.

Let's hope that we don't suffer too many serious and long term injuries to key players.
Saturday's game will help put in perspective our respective performances against the Pumas.

Agreed. 3 from 3 looks good in the record books, but the opposition was dire for all of those matches. This should add some context.normanski wrote:We seem to be in a good place with our pool of players. Unlucky that Patchell is still recovering. Let's hope Jarrod gets a bit of time to show what he can do (or not, as the case may be).
Hope our centres don't take a knock, there's not much in the way of cover. We'd have been better off with Watkin at 23, especially with Steff's none-too-stunning current form.

I guess it is a chance for Steff to prove himself, but he has looked out of sorts. North to centre again I suppose if either centre goes off.

I'm looking forward to seeing Luke Morgan, he looks a real talent, agree re: Steff Evans, he isn't really back to form yet, I would have started Watkin as Hadleigh does what Hadleigh does, maybe they are just looking for some added control outside Anscombe.
Should be a good match.

I’m really looking forward to the game. Hope it’s a cracker like the 6N in the spring and not a damp squib. While there a few new or inexperienced players there is a hard spine to the side so it will be interesting to see how we go.Numbers wrote:I'm looking forward to seeing Luke Morgan, he looks a real talent, agree re: Steff Evans, he isn't really back to form yet, I would have started Watkin as Hadleigh does what Hadleigh does, maybe they are just looking for some added control outside Anscombe.

I guess this is the real start of countdown to the RWC.
We need performances from everyone from now on!

We need Hadleigh to do the thinking, and not throw long passes for interception.
"...control outside Anscombe." Yes, that is it.

Watkins is a great potential talent, but right now I’d stick with Parkes in the RWC run up. He does add a lot of maturity and rugby intelligence to our back line.

Re: Team
Absolutely, unless he steps up another level. Parkes is a player for NOW, Watkin is still improving. But Watkin would be good on the bench today (actually, after last night's Ospreys match I'd be happy with Allen, Dirksen or Giles wearing the 23 shirt).Sandydragon wrote:Watkins is a great potential talent, but right now I’d stick with Parkes in the RWC run up.
