Interesting. I've seen his name pop up a lot on Twitter recently, there's quite a few people saying we should cap him ASAP.

No, it is highly unlikely we'll cap him because he'd probably not turn his back on England at this stage considering he has only just turned away from us to join them.

He is SQ through his old man I believe. Played for us up to U18 along with Redpath and Strachan (also a Northampton centre on loan at Bedford).

All 3 went to the England set up although I believe Strachan played at the U20 RWC for us.

..and he played for 55 minutes before being subbed and helped his team to a bonus point win that takes them 2 points clear at the top of the Top14!
Afraid I can't give you my opinion as to how he played as I couldn't get an internet connection, but it was his first game since October so good news for Toulouse and for you boys north of the border!

So if he comes on, is that him claimed by the English?

In all honesty, while it’s nice to have options, we seem fairly well-stocked there at the moment. Maybe he realises it’s prudent to go where he can get a game (and get paid more for it).

Need to wait and see if if he gets capped in the next year or so. His dad says he was chasing the money but if they drop the 20K match fees that the Rfu are talking about he may change his mind

The reality is, despite playing age grade for us, it is "only" his Dad that is Scottish. He is French born and English educated and developed. Understandable he would explore the England route.

Don't think anyone would expect him to come straight in after 1 sub appearance for Sale. Looking ahead, are we well stocked at 12?

Talking about Scotland, come the next world cup Horne is 33, Scott 32, Johnson will be 30 (and is yet untested at international level) and then there's maybe Dean who is 24/25 and untested at international level.

Glasgow may have a few options, but he could come in and challenge at Edinburgh as early as next season. Scott can play 12/13, Dean and JJ are doing well but that's about it. Bennett is perilously close to being finished at a decent level.

At 19, and highly rated, he is exactly the type of player that could come in do a job over the next two years and be bedded in for the next world cup. Wont happen though.

Clearly we have a small amount of professional spaces but when you look at both Scottish sides there is no reason why Redpath couldn't be on a pro deal at one of them. Vellacott was the same, easily good enough to have been offered a pro deal but we only offered an academy deal.

It would be better to take a swing and a miss on a trying to develop a couple of these guys for a couple of years than to let them develop down there and chose England.

I am not talking about every one of them, but there are a couple we should take a chance on. Ritchie and Kinghorn both went full pro without an academy deal so it has been done.

Thought he was mid to late twenties!

I remember some young lad, Hutchison, doing well at U20 level at centre. And there’s some lad in the Aussie 7s called Henry Hutchison who must have some Scottish in him! Still, perhaps not as bountiful as I assumed.
