Wales trying to get the bonus point before we've scored a try

We look very flat in attack. Italy are defending well but we should have scored at least one try by now given possession and territory.

Well that was deflating. We won and the Italians defended resolutely. But, far too many Welsh mistakes.
Can’t ignore the fact that we aren’t playing well at the moment.

So. Grand Slam or bust then. Ireland, France and England will surely get a BP and Scotland already has.
Play like that again and it won't be an issue because we won't beat the Jocks, Ireland and England will laugh their tits off

Good to see Italy, two weeks in a row, playing hard at the end of the game. In the past they'd have shipped 3 tries in the last 15 minutes.

On this form it would be deserved.Zhivago wrote:We might well come 4th this year
We should recognise the whole scale changes to the team won’t have helped.
But too many mistakes. And we still haven’t resolved the fly half debate.

Mind you, it’s hard to be a fly half when your forwards aren’t getting quick ball and you need a frigging step ladder to catch a pass from your 9.
Line out was shyte.

I thought our scrum half was a bit naff, I think things were much improved once Davies came on.

Aleds box kicking was alright, the best if the trio but other facets of his game were poor. Neither of our starting halfbacks offered much of a running threat. We were livelier when Davies came on.Zhivago wrote:I thought our scrum half was a bit naff, I think things were much improved once Davies came on.

That was a group of players who were in the park on a Saturday afternoon and who said let’s have a throw around.
Talented as some of the players are, they looked like headless chickens against a far more structured Italian side.
England must be laughing their socks off.
Gatland has paid the price of too many changes in one go.
They’ll have to improve 250% to even get in the next game.

Possibly giving England a bit too much respect.normanski wrote:That was a group of players who were in the park on a Saturday afternoon and who said let’s have a throw around.

As well as we played against Ireland which was against the odds, lets see what happens tomorrow...at home against a team already written off!
Besides, Wales at full strength is a different prospect than today.

Re: Italy -vs- Wales
I can never recall feeling so low after two away wins! Hard to see where another win is coming from in the next three.
Unlike last week we never looked like losing today, but it was still horrible to watch. We could still be playing and we'd not have won a lineout.
My only straw to clutch is that we've now had 4 tries disallowed in 2 games; and while I think they were all fair calls, they were all marginal and we have to get lucky eventually.
Oh well. I guess when they bring out the WALES GRAND SLAM 2019 boxset, Disc #1 will make a nice coaster... #positivethinking

Re: Italy -vs- Wales
Really poor. Why, in a match against the 15th ranked team in the world, were we kicking so many penalties in a competition where we need tries for bonus points?
To answer my own question: probably because our lineout was so totally shite.
We're certainly coming in below under the radar. I think we're tunnelling in.

My enduring hope is that we have played crap in previous tournaments and then turned it on big time for a key game.
If we don’t improve and England can keep the intensity of last weekend, it’s going to be painful watching.

At what point in our unbeaten run was it we all started hating Jones and thought we were just waiting to be found out? Those jammy wins away in Aus?Banquo wrote:lol. Unbeaten in 11 games.
Italy are still capable of making Wales look a bit crap, but I think that still happens to a few of the top teams. It would be ominous for Wales if they played like yesterday and we did like vs Ireland but that seems unlikely.
