After the excitement of Judgement Day, I think the need to keep Edwards (and if possible give him some mentoring duties at the regional level) is clear.

Right Bruce - go talk to him, and offer him anything he wants!

A real shame. Hope they pick his brains In the last few months.

But it's not the end of the world. Coming off the back of a GS and a winning streak, he probably seems a little better than he actually is.

Pity he didn't want to stay but I don't blame the WRU for this - the budget's not unlimited. Good luck to the honorary Welshman.

Big Edwards fan. Very grateful for all he's done for us and I wish him great success for the future (unless he goes to work for England of course ;)) but this looks very much like someone seeing his hand has been strengthened after a GS, walking away from an agreed deal with Wigan on that basis, using Wales to try to drive up his price then walking away. Not very honourable but I guess it's business.

In fairness, we knew how good a defence coach Edwards is. If he were part of our plans post the RWC then we should have engaged with him and offered a deal. The dual defence coach idea just smacked of desperation and appeasing the public.

As Head Coach? Or just defence?

Whichever he wants.
So far we have a hands-off DoR and Girvan Dempsey, oh, and Charteris doing lineout and maul

I didn't know that Girve was coaching! Is he making a better fist of it than Geordan Murphy...?

Isn't everyone?
And I'm pretty sure Girvan was coaching Leinster before coming to us.

Girve was backs coach at Leinster from 2015 to 2018, when Fil Contepomi came in and Girve headed off to Bath; he's been there for the last season.

More important, he managed the Leinster Academy from 2012 to 2015. Forget his coaching skills, which are sound; this is the bloke who is going to bring your youngsters on.
