Just got into work though, and have logged on fine.

I'm guessing something to do with IP addresses :s
Or possibly crimes against autocorrect/grammar (which would be fair)

Oh FFS. Sorry Which - we've had a problem with spammers and set up IP blockers, but it randomly gets other people sometimes. Do you use a VPN at home or anything to bounce your IP?

I don't have the power to fix, but will let Sandydragon know.

Bloody hellfire. I think we're going to turn off the IP blocking altogether, as it's causing more problems than it's solving, so hopefully you should be okay soon.

Cafes and public wifis seem fair enough to me, as they may well be used by bots and proxys to spam the boards with fake IDs.

Trouble is, there's no good answer - either we don't allow new posters, we submit all new posters to moderation for their first 20-odd posts (exhaustive) or we ban IP addresses and catch some genuine IDs in computer glitches.

We've decided not to ban any spammers, just disapprove their posts. If that works then fine, its a few less clicks for the mod.

This has happened to me a few times now. A short term fix is just restarting your router which must give you another ip address. Worth remembering though.
