Trescothick plays his final first class match this weekend. What a career. Probably my favourite batsman and the last player (I think) from that Ashes series to retire. It might just be me but it’s one of those sporting retirements that marks the end of a special/iconic sporting team/occasion.

His contribution to that series was easily forgotten. A couple of decent 50's IIRC but that was it.

I’m also disinclined to to remember a man who was nicknamed the Sherminator amongst the Aussies. That brought shame upon our entire nation

Classy, correct player albeit frustrating at times in the 1-day versions for club & country, by not chancing his arm a bit when the run-rate was slipping. ( imho).
