Who are the players we should be targetting for the next 4 year cycle

Props - Carre, SMith, Lewis, Brown - if we can fix the set piece, all 3 of these can carry well.
Hookers - Dee, Elias, Lake?
2nd Row - Beard, Seb, Teddy, Jac Price? - do we have any 6'8 Monsters coming through?
Back Row - Wainwright, Jenkins, Refel, Griffiths, Basham -who's our next big ball carrying #8
9s - Harri Morgan, Tomos WIlliams, HArdy
10s - Jarrod, Patchell
Centres - struggling here, Millard, Watkins I guess
Wings - Adams, Lane, Amos
FB - Rhun?,

I’d throw the following into the mix,

Keddie at 8
Cory Hill at lock
Tyler Morgan

Keddie was great at Age grade, has he pushed on since? Not really seen or heard much of him.

Cory Hill agreed, Tyler Morgan needs to go injury free for a while and rediscover his form.

Sam Davies...not convinced, but would love to see him get back in form at the Drags.

It’s good that Stephen Jones joined the setup early because this will give some continuity with the other new coaches and the squad.

There’s a Barbarians game to come shortly so I wonder if we did (big, big IF) make the final whether Pivac could leave his Scarlets duties and fly out to be with them or would he leave Gatland and Co to immerse themselves in the glory of reaching a Final?

I imagine that Johnny McNicholl and Willis Halaholo might have a part to play in the next cycle - both are 29, so not yet past it. Lee-Lo is 33 so presumably won't get an offer.

Also, for the Ospreys: Cai Evans, Keelan Giles, Matthew Aubrey.

33 is about the limit for backs I'd say, age is why I didn't include them, Keelan Giles has already been in a squad otherwise I'd have had him on the list, incidently did you see he's out for the rest off the season :(

I haven't really seen enough of Evans and Aubrey to give an opinion so I won't.

I’d be amazed if either was considered to be in the frame for the next RWC. At best short term cover whilst others develop,’personally I wouldn’t cap them unless there were an injury crisis.

Parkes is 32, so I think those old guys can still make a contribution.

Giles just can't get a break - I probably heard the bad news but repressed the memory :(.

Actually a large proportion of the squad could conceivable still be available. Ignoring those over 30

Eliot Dee 25
Elias 24
Carre 21
Francis 27
Wyn Jones 26
Dillon Lewis 23
Nicky Smith 25
Ball 28 (possibly in contention)
Beard 23
Hill 27
Cubby 28 (possible)
Navidi 28 (possible)
Wainwright 21
Aled Davies 27
Tomos Williams 24
Patchell 26
Watkin 22
Amos 24
Adams 24
North 27 (possible)
Liam Williams (possible)
Biggar (maybe) 29
Gareth Davies 29 (maybe)

There’s a decent core there from the current squad to bolt you get players onto over time.

Wow, I though Rhys Webb had some life in him but he's 30 now, so will be pushing it when he returns from France.

So assuming that the likes of Faletau will also be retired by then (although that’s not a definite) and that None of the possibles are available, then we have the following (based on current test squad and those who have recently turned out)

1. Wyn Jones
2. Dee
3. Francis
4. Beard
5. Hill
6. Wainwright
7. Jenkins
8. Moriarty
9. Tomos Williams
10. Patchell
11. Adams
12. Watkin
13. TBC
14. TBC
15. TBC

Arguably if Tyler Morgan and Lane remain fit then that’s a dither centre and wing covered with hopefully
Someone emerging at full back.

We also have a bench of Nicky Smith, Elias, Brown, Ball, O Griffiths (if he can remain I injured).

The basis of our future team is pretty much there,
But there is scope for emerging players as well.

Another whole season in rehab for Keelan Giles. Horrible to say for someone so young but it's beginning to look like an Eli Walker situation all over again. That said, Ospreys could play a T-1000 Terminator on the wing and it'd only last three games.

That is sad news. Exciting player when fit but it looks like he is destined to become a player with frequent injuries.

He is a very good player with potential to be better. He just needs to stay injury free.

I'm looking forward to the coach we'll have for the next cycle, more than any player.

Whilst I really don’t want to go back to the pre Gatland era, having some fluidity to our attack would be a huge positive.

But, we need to recognise that Gatland has done some great stuff with our team. We have properly moved into the professional era under him. Hopefully we can build on that rather than revert to our old amateur ways.

Absolutely, there's a lot we don't want to change.

I'm looking forward to Wales being more likeable again. Been kinda hard to like you guys as a neutral when you play such boring rugby :p

Used to really enjoy watching back when you were shit, because you were entertainingly shit, not like us with our god awful post-2003 stodge.

What are the options at 2, 5 and 12 looking to next season? Replacing Jones at lock is in advance a massive ask, but maybe you've your own Itoje or Ryan coming through
