Surly that should be the only reason he would be picked to start?Danno wrote:That isn't why he starts over Louwjngf wrote:Regarding Kolisi in what (if any) way is he a better open side than Louw?Stom wrote:

I don't think Louw will start, because SA won't drop their (c) and like a big man.
Which is very good for England.
The difference is going to be that when SA are behind going into the final quarter, they can bring Louw and Snyman off the bench, while NZ had fuck all to turn to. We need to be able to counter that. Wilson will be important.
I think that's an interesting point. Behind the XV, the standard of squad NZ have put out this WC has been pretty below their usual standards. They have 3 locks of any quality, 3 backrows, and the back 3 options aren't so WOW as they have been in the past.

SA don't play with an out and out openside in this WC, more a pair of 5.5s if anything

5.5s, gosh.
I mean it's not as bad as what I thought you were about to say, but still 6.5s is more fair.

He's a better carrier, but a totally different kind of player; SA generally prefer a big carrier and tackler to what we see as classic openside characteristics. He's also their skipper, and totemic- which means no matter what we may think, he won't be dropped.jngf wrote:Regarding Kolisi in what (if any) way is he a better open side than Louw?Stom wrote:Well, you kinda say it...Banquo wrote: PSDT and Louw aren't competing for the same position, if that's what you were saying. De Allende is different to ALB, I rate both of them.

Something the two head coaches have in common, then!Banquo wrote: He's also their skipper, and totemic- which means no matter what we may think, he won't be dropped.

I don't know if you ever heard the NZ commentary from the Lions, but Marshy had a line when SOB scored the try which would fit well, something like 'Me-oh-my, I have enjoyed that, yes boy!'Puja wrote:Literally crying with laughter at that.Which Tyler wrote:

Ian Jones used to annoy me big time when I used to watch super rugby on sky.
Every kick.....".....he's gone downtown."
I reckon he's a bit of a gimp.

I didn’t think I knew who that was until I read the line. I’m hearing a whiny voice?richy678 wrote:Ian Jones used to annoy me big time when I used to watch super rugby on sky.

I can't help feeling sorry for NZ and Wales. 3rd place play-off matches are ridiculous. Commercial greed trumps sportsmanship.

Setting aside that it's a devalued rwc......I don't think you've got much to worry about.twitchy wrote:I'm nervous already.

Re: England vs South Africa - RWC final
I was discussing this with a (non-rugby) friend earlier today and described it as, if we played this game 10 time, we'd win 9 of them, with maybe 3 of those being very comfortable. However, it's a RWC final and they only need the one they win to be the first one that happens...kk67 wrote:Setting aside that it's a devalued rwc......I don't think you've got much to worry about.twitchy wrote:I'm nervous already.

By dirge that was the SA V Wales semifinal.Scrumhead wrote:Devalued in what way?kk67 wrote:Setting aside that it's a devalued rwc......I don't think you've got much to worry about.twitchy wrote:I'm nervous already.

I think that's a tad over stated. This is not a poor SA team by any means.Puja wrote:I was discussing this with a (non-rugby) friend earlier today and described it as, if we played this game 10 time, we'd win 9 of them, with maybe 3 of those being very comfortable. Show some respect man, Which and Dors were very clear this is a devalued event, their view should be respected, and I'll agree with them if we lose tomorrow. I don't recall if Pja agreed with Which and Dors, somebody did, and I'm happy in my ignorance to claim it was PujaMellsblue wrote:By dirge that was the SA V Wales semifinal.Scrumhead wrote:Devalued in what way?kk67 wrote:

Yep, and possibly a bad matchup for us when like Ireland we're typically very reliant on winning collisions, as we sadly saw in the 6N game against WalesBanquo wrote:I think that's a tad over stated. As an aside this is perhaps the first time since 2003 I've actually looked forward to a series of England games, I'm pleased to find I can still care

I was being somewhat disingenuous. I apologize to the thickies who don't understand rugby.
