Ive been advocating trying PAtchell at 12 for a while, a la Henson, Just cant see it happening.Numbers wrote:I think Jarrod Evans is the future for us at 10, Patchell is more attacking than Biggar but he doesn't threaten the gainline like Evans does, we could have Patchell at 12 perhaps as a 2nd 5/8 which would play into a more expansive style.

Id like to seeSandydragon wrote:I’d definitely want to see Dee and Watkin moving into the starting squad, even if the players they replace are on the bench for the time being.
Ditto Patchell a d Tomos Williams.
I’m thinking that for the first six nations game, we might look a bit like this (injuries notwithstanding)
Wyn Jones
Dee
Francis
Beard
AWJ
Navidi
Tipuric
Faletau
T Williams
Patchell
Adams
Watkin
JD2
North
Amos
Bench
R Evans
Elias
Lewis
Ball
Wainwright
G Davies
Anscombe/Biggar
Parkes
The new team doesnt have a lot of time before the six nations kicks off, so I’m thinking fairly minimal changes at first with more players coming through for the summer tour.
Williams/Amos, Amos/Lane, Davies, Watkin, Adams, Patchell, Williams
Evans, Dee, Lewis, Ball, Hill, Jenkins, Tipuric, Faletau
B: Elias, Carre, Brown, Davies, Navidi, G Davies, Evans, Amos/Lane

I think Williams will be out for a while and might not feature at the next 6N.

Re: Post RWC
Wyn Jones to my mind is our best scrummaging loosehead so I'd have him starting, Pivac has always preferred Rob Evans at regional level tho so he may be a favourite of his, we still have a wealth of backrowers available which is nice and a Ball-Hill second row partnership has a nice balance to it.MrK wrote:Id like to seeSandydragon wrote:I’d definitely want to see Dee and Watkin moving into the starting squad, even if the players they replace are on the bench for the time being.

So... does that result infer anything on how strong we actually are ?

Ye left it behind ye, should have flown rob Evans out instead of lane and had a ball carrier against saMrK wrote:So... does that result infer anything on how strong we actually are ?

Damn good question. Does he fancy a shot at the next Lions tour? To be fair, he hasn’t looked off the pace so he is still there on merit, although there is a huge risk that he declines before the next RWC and we have let the chance to blood someone else.Hooky wrote:How long will AWJ go on for?
This must surely be one of Privacs first conversations.

It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that he could make the next world cup.Sandydragon wrote:Damn good question. Does he fancy a shot at the next Lions tour? If he plays 25+ games a year, no. If he's managed properly, maybe. Didn't the Bok locks play into their late 30s?

A few forwards have played at RWCs in their late 30s. Not many but it’s possible if he is well managed.
Prudent to plan for him not making it though.

I seem to recall an English lock who went on to his late 30s as well, possibly Shaw?Hooky wrote:Matfield was 38 at his last world cupBuggaluggs wrote:If he plays 25+ games a year, no. If he's managed properly, maybe. Didn't the Bok locks play into their late 30s?
If AWJ is still producing the goods then great. I’d hate for him to be one of those players who carries on too long , although from what a read of his personality, he would be as likely to call time himself rather than rely on past glory.
