Let’s assume we’re all like Bristol and can sign star players like Radradra. Who would you sign for your club?
As a Quins fan, I’d find it pretty hard as we have obvious areas of deficiency ...
The lineout is our main problem so it would have to be a hooker or lock.
After much deliberation, I’d go for RG Snyman. We were linked with him for months and I was gutted when we didn’t get him. Our hookers are still pretty poor, but I think they’re less of a problem that our locks.

Wasps need a nasty lock and a strong ball carrying 12. de Allende would certainly fit the bill for the latter, or Esterhuizen

Jamie George. Hooker is the biggest area where Leicester needs an upgrade and his leadership and skill around the pitch would not go amiss either.
Alternatively, if we're allowed to bend the rules, I'd have Pat Lam come in as our coach. He looks to be one of the best team-builders in the world right now.

I'd've said Itoje or Retallick for your lot. Lock is the only area where you're a tad weak and one of those two would improve any team.

Dream Mata or Tuisova.
Realistically if we were looking at a cap POV
Brad Webber for Ben Youngs and Montoya for Polota-Nau or Youngs

I'd like Sinckler at Saints. Although we've got Owen Franks now which should help in the tight, I cant help thinking about how well Sinckler would fit into the current fast attacking game that Boyd is developing. Having someone who could either smash it up to open space wider, or play as a fat fly half and distribute/offload like a back like he can would be great

Hmmm. Faf or Barret.
Barret covers 10 and 15 and I think Marshal might be off soon. DC needs a better alternative than 36 at 10 - and whilst I’ve been impressed with Simpson at 9 I think Faf would make all the difference.
Could also do with a world class loose head. Beast too please.

On the one hand; THP is the single most important position on the pitch - Sinkler is well on his way to becoming World Class there.
On the other hand; SH is Bath's biggest weakness - Antoine Dupont from Toulouse looks real class, in the French SH way that I fell in love with 30-odd years ago, and haven't yet fallen out of love with, and at 23, has many years left in him at the top level.

Bedford need a powerful and pacy ball carrier in both the pack and the backs. I’ll take Yato. Not sure whether the contract offer of a pint of Eagle IPA and any loose change he can find down the back of the sofas in the club house will tempt him, though.

surely a guided tour from the Engineering Society at Summerfields Miniature Railway would be hard to resistMellsblue wrote:Bedford need a powerful and pacy ball carrier in both the pack and the backs. Why Snyman when we could have Itoje or Retallick?Scrumhead wrote:Let’s assume we’re all like Bristol and can sign star players like Radradra. Who would you sign for your club?

Although I am also tempted by Jamie George, too.
I think it's definitely Itoje for me. I'd want his leadership as well as his quality.

TBH, when I wrote the original post, I was thinking of players not currently in the Premiership, but I should have made that clear.
I’d go for Snyman over Retallick because I think he’s the nastier of the two which I think we need.

I’m assuming he’s already made the trip from France to see that.p/d wrote:surely a guided tour from the Engineering Society at Summerfields Miniature Railway would be hard to resistMellsblue wrote:Bedford need a powerful and pacy ball carrier in both the pack and the backs. Surely with Bedford, a visit to Second Hand Alley (House Clearances) that is co-located with Summerfields Miniature Railway, would be more appropriate! However, I'm ashamed to admit that I been in this junk shop but never on the railway; and this is from somebody who lives only a few miles away, who has a degree in Technology, and who spent his working life in high end technology. Furthermore I do go to watch Bedford occasionally!

High end and Bedford rugby go hand in hand....ExAviator wrote:Surely with Bedford, a visit to Second Hand Alley (House Clearances) that is co-located with Summerfields Miniature Railway, would be more appropriate! Seconded. I can't really think of any other obvious gaps in the squad apart from maybe Sean Edwards taking over as defence coach now Alan Dickens has moved on.Adam_P wrote:I'd like Sinckler at Saints. I think we could do with signing a number 8, as behind Harrison there isn't much there.Shiny wrote:Seconded. I actually typed that and then deleted it. We could do with another Manu Samoa/Picamoles for forward ball carrying.Adam_P wrote:I think we could do with signing a number 8, as behind Harrison there isn't much there.Shiny wrote:Seconded. Re: If you could sign any player for your club, who would you buy?
I would be very keen to see how a back row of 6. Harrison, 7. Ludlam, 8. Veilanu would go. So much carrying ability, good breakdown, shoddy lineout.Shiny wrote:I actually typed that and then deleted it. I lost count of the number of commentators that called Samu Manoa Manu Samoa while he was at Saints
