Apparently Dillon Lewis only omitted owing to injury!
I am surprised Brown is fit enough for the bench. I think he has a good attitude.

Solid (which is what Wales needed).
I don't watch much English rugby but I got the impression he was not a huge star in the loose.
I understand Haining only misses out through illness?

Not follow him specifically but he seems to be a mainstay in a pretty solid front 5.
Sounds like he's a proper unit.

Re: Scotland
This must be Scotland’s best chance for years to win in Cardiff.
They have a rock solid team (how often have we been able to say that in recent years) and will be buoyed by their win against France.
Having said that Wales are on the point of clicking even with these changes to the pack, so this could be the best game of the tournament for all rugby fans.
Whoever wins, I feel, it will be a close game with loads of tries.

Disappointed not to see Zammit on the bench. McNicholl has hardly set the world on fire.
Seeing how our latest TH gets on will be interesting. He’s certainly a big unit so is he fit enough?

Hopefully the fitness team will have been working with him. He’ll have hell of a job holding the scrum against a very good Scottish front five. With Hill back in the side and Rowlands on the bench it’ll be interesting to see if we can achieve parity or even get on top.Sandydragon wrote:Disappointed not to see Zammit on the bench. I think McNicholl is preferred because he can cover all three back positions.

Surely with Williams there it doesn't particularly matter.
LRZ would have been an interesting curveball for Scotland to deal with.

Last time they came to Cardiff in the 6 Nations everyone was saying it would be a 50/50 game, we won 34-7, if Scotland can score first and put some pressure on then they have a chance albeit a slim one.normanski wrote:This must be Scotland’s best chance for years to win in Cardiff.

In fairness mate with Halfpenny and Liam Williams starting, we aren’t short of full back cover. Feels like an opportunity missed.normanski wrote:Hopefully the fitness team will have been working with him. He’ll have hell of a job holding the scrum against a very good Scottish front five. Yes we've been here a few times before.Numbers wrote:

If Wales can get a good start and be level or ahead at the break, I think we'll win; possibly even with something to spare.
But if we go 10-0 down to this Scotland, I think we're in big, BIG trouble.

A bit surprised that LRZ hasn't been capped at some point in this championships. Hope we don't lose him as a result.Graigwen wrote:I must admit I don't see the logic in have McNicholl on the bench instead of rees Zammit. This season is for reorganisation, learning to play a somewhat different way. I would feel relaxed about losing three games in a row if I thought the learning exercise had been worthwhile. I am not usually in favour of multiple changes, but this season is difrferent.
Clearly Pivac is very familiar with McNicholl and expects him to create chances for Wales as he regularly does for the Scarlets. But no sign of that spark so far ... hopefully on Saturday he'll make something happen.

I'm not too bothered. Confident LRZ has been assured he is in long term plans. I don't think the lad has any intention of playing for England

You'll be grand. Beating a shite Italy team and 14men French team can't paper over some fairly obvious cracks. Our defence has improved but we aren't creating a whole lot against 15men so far in this 6N.normanski wrote:This must be Scotland’s best chance for years to win in Cardiff.

Complete shit show, should have been called off a week ago. All the Jocks traveled to Cardiff now and its canceled less than 24 hours in advance, only the WRU.

Now they can have a fuller afternoon’s drinking without the interruption of watching a match. Undoubtedly a good time will be had by all!Ross. Oh for fucks sake. I’m assuming the WRU panicked following the shut down of most other sporting events and didn’t want to the the odd one out.

The only part I don't really understand is why they've spent all this time saying they'd follow government guidelines only to not follow government guidelines. Now maybe they're right to have switched even this late in proceedings, but they spent so long saying it wasn't their call this is going to vex a lot of people with train/plane tickets and hotel bookings

As far as I know Quins Vs Sale is still on in the cup final this weekend, but we'd probably be assuming that's just a matter of time.Sandydragon wrote:Oh for fucks sake. I’m assuming the WRU panicked following the shut down of most other sporting events and didn’t want to the the odd one out.

Arse.
I did have this vague its-too-good-to-be-true feeling about ours being the only match not to be cancelled.
No rugby. Or much sport of any kind, I think. Tennis has already been shut down.
Annoying. Understandable but annoying.

If it’s going to be for much of the year then that’s going to be annoying. It’s an interesting set of decisions given current government policy.

It would be nice if the Pro14 could continue behind closed doors. Better than nothing, at least there'd be TV revenue.
