RIP John Prine

Post by Donny osmond »

One of the all time great lyricists, can tell a better story in 3 minutes of country music than pretty much anyone else could manage in a lifetime.

"Send my mouth way down south and kiss my ass goodbye"

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

oh, there are just so many

"He did a better job of holding up the mirror of art to the '60s and '70s than any of our official literary poets." - Ted Kooser, US Poet Laureate

"He just has a unique ability to haiku it - it's deceptively insightful. It's at once playing on words and imagery, but expressing something deeper in such a succinct way, in such an exceptional way." Bonnie Raitt

One genius to another: Bill Murray on John Prine's lyrics and humour

This is the two of them, singing, talking, joking
