Re: Premiership Suspended
It’s not but LW would probably tell you it’s an important component. Ealing also have a stadium to use should they be promoted, at least they did this time last year so I’m assuming they have this year, so funding the wage bill is probably the more important of the two.Digby wrote:I didn't know that was an entry requirement, and whilst I don't mind it a number of teams might fall foulMellsblue wrote:They’ll also need to find some supporters to fill it.Digby wrote:If Ealing can arrange a suitable ground in the next few weeks maybe they have a point. Ealing’s argument is based upon the fact that they believe they could catch Newcastle. They have a game in hand and it is mathematically possible, but given Newcastle haven’t lost a game yet, it’s definitely stretching plausibility to suggest they can catch them.

So far as I can tell that means they'd lose millions, just like everyone elseMellsblue wrote:It’s not but LW would probably tell you it’s an important component. Not sure where to put it but this thread seems most relevant:
The head of the ARU has said the AI’s are unlikely to go ahead as the priority of SANZAR and Arg will be finishing Super Rugby playing the RC generate income.

That would surely see legal action from the 6n for breach of contract over the ais... no? And, well, they’d surely winMellsblue wrote:Not sure where to put it but this thread seems most relevant:

Sounds like a damned good excuse to bin the Lions from which the SH profits substantially. Thereafter, full reciprocation could apply on, say, a four-year cycle, between the hemispheres.Stom wrote:That would surely see legal action from the 6n for breach of contract over the ais... no? Re: Premiership Suspended
All tables in the Champ and community game have finalised via ‘a best playing record formula maintaining promotion and relegation for those leagues’.
The Tyrells 15s has been declared null and void as there is no relegation.
The final
Champ is as photo. It will be ‘interesting’ to see Ealing’s response.

Times reporting that the remaining Prem games may be finished at Twickenham with three games staged a day. The Ricoh Arena is also under consideration. The plan is to have the final in mid-August.

Anybody got any insider info on RFU plans now that lockdown is being eased and the 6 people at 2 metre rule is about to come in to force?
I’ve been on our coaches WhatsApp group suggesting we should get some planning in for the inevitable phased return and what would represent official club training and it has caused some, erm, discussions.

Latest I’ve heard is that there are no plans, fixtures arrangements have been delayed and so has the start of the season for all but the Prem. I can’t wait to get the kids back to some summer skills games but I can’t see it happening for ages yet.
Statement came from rfumidlands.com concerning 20/21 season in the last couple of days.

Re: Premiership Suspended
Rugby really is a sport that could never be played within the context of social distancing. Start contact training in August 2020 (at very earliest) and subject to reliable drop in R value (not imbecile government sending people to their deaths just to jumpstart economy)

Sports that can be played within the context of social distancing don't seem exactly prevalent. I'm going to discount the likes of golf, snooker and darts because those are games not sports, football, hockey, martial arts, netball, swimming, cricket, track and road athletic events all seem like bad ideas, which leaves singles tennis, singles badminton but not squash, it leaves field athletic events and...?

There is a rumour going round that all team sports in schools wont start until after next Easter and that ALL Youth Team Sports will be written off entirely this coming season. If thats true then its going to have some huge implications for grassroot clubs regarding incomes.

You’ve got to hope that’s wrong. Where’d you hear this? Given all U.K. govts are for Sept return to school at a min this seems out of kilter.
If this is true, the youth real are getting f**ked over.

Lead man at my club has said they’ve had comms that the RFU will not allow any form of age grade rugby until September at the earliest.
Seems mad. Primary school kids, social distancing outside in small numbers is as about as COVID secure as you can get.

We’re meant to be back to nursery but it’s been delayed because a nursery teacher got a sore throat so got tested. But we’re meeting the other nursery kids 3 times a week at the moment, can’t cope otherwise. And we’re not in lockdown anyway

My primary school kids are absolute naturals at social distancing now, sadly. When you’ve 6 kids and half a rugby field to play with, social distancing shouldn’t be too much of an issue.Stom wrote:Primary school kids keeping their distances? All of that is before you take into account the numerous studies that show primary school aged kids very rarely pass the virus on, rarely suffer any symptoms and that passing on the virus outside at distance is also incredibly rare to almost impossible.
The science I’ve read shows that requiring primary school ages kids to social distance, particularly outside, is a red herring.
