Just watched Sco v Wales from 1988 on the iPlayer. Rugby was soooo much better to watch in those days.
Had forgotten how good Fin Calder was.
Very noticeable that even though the ref made some howlers, not a single bit of back chat or arm flapping or disgusted looks or any of that bollocks.

Old School
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I find the poor handling annoying when watching older games but generally more enjoyable to watch.

Re: Old School
I find them fun to watch but I do wonder whether, if I was watching them live caring about the result, I'd be raging about the arbitrary decisions and rules.
You also need to remember that often these are just highlights or, if it is the full game, it is a game that people remember and have bothered to put up a video of. You're not going to find many videos of some of the 0-0 and 3-0 stinkers there were!
