Yep. Gutting for Oghre and Wasps to let Exeter off there.Peej wrote:Why, why try and make that throw?

They should put Steenson on for the kick.

Two poor calls from Launchbury. Feel for Oghre.
Exeter deserve the title.

Crazy conditions neither side could really do anything.

Real pity the weather was so poor. Effectively killed the game as a spectacle.
Exe the better side and deserved the win. They are worthy champions. Big defensive effort from Wasps but just wore down a bit in the 2nd half.

I look forward to watching Wasps next season. They have some serious young talent coming through.

Fair play to Nowell who played two consecutive finals with wrecked toe ligaments!

I'm happy that Exeter won it, they've deserved it this season. I just can't get my head round that lineout though. I mean WTAF would make a person ignore the previous 75 mins' worth of lineout action? Gutted for poor Oghre, that just shouldn't have happened.

Yep. That really was a moment that’s going to be hard for Wasps to look back on. I hope it’s not something that sticks with Oghre too long, I’m sure the locks are old enough to deal with it.Beasties wrote:I'm happy that Exeter won it, they've deserved it this season. I have to feel embarrassed that Cardiff has a roof and Twickenham does not. Yes, rugby is a game for all conditions, blah blah, yawn, but when a showpiece final is destroyed by the weather, we have to ask how the Welsh have got their priorities right and our blazers have f***ked-up big-time. Traditions can ho hang. Events like that should be big adverts for the game and no fringe-fans would be hooked by that spectacle.
All credit to Exeter for winning and Wasps for giving it a real go.

You don’t half make some strange points.
I agree the weather ruined the game, but I don’t think the RFU has ‘f**ked up big time’ by not having a roof. If that’s the case, so have 99% of the other unions and pretty much anyone who is in charge of most other sports.
Apart from Cardiff, which other major rugby stadium has a roof? In fact, which other major sports stadiums have a roof?

I dread to think of the cost of retrofitting Twickenham with a roof.

Particularly when it would be a roof that really isn’t needed ...
I genuinely can’t think of any other major sporting stadia with a roof like The Millennium Stadium.

Assume places like the astrodome have permanent roofs?

Astrodome was closed over a decade ago. Think it was condemed too.Banquo wrote:Assume places like the astrodome have permanent roofs?
Older stadiums tend to be open or domed (New Orleans Saints). Loads of modern stadiums have retractable roofs though. Dallas and Petersburg jump to mind. Suspect the cost is prohibitive at twickers.

He's a miserable prick at times, not sure what to make of this at all tbh. On the one hand he's saying there's too many Internationals and then wanting there to be a World Club Championship however that might be done, assuming it would be National Winners to keep everyone interested. Dont know how that would be good for player welfare but still...
The question though is if there was a NH v SH match in 2 weeks time Exeter Chiefs v Crusaders everyone fit and healthy WHO'D WIN? My money is on the Crusaders tbh. I think Chiefs would give it a good crack but I dont think they are quite at that level tbh.

I'm really skeptical about these sort of ideas. Trying to manufacture new rivalries I think almost never works. I know some people on here watch lots of the nz league but you guys must be a tiny minority. Would this work for your average rugby fan?

Re: Exeter vs Wasps - Prem Final -Saturday 6 pm
I think Exeter hsve some legitimate complaint about the compulsory two week break for international players before 6N 21 in the general context of completing last season's club and international matches.
I'd prefer less European club matches as a general theme because I still do not like Premiership matches coinciding with internationals. It effectively means that clubs' best interest is served by having players just short of regular international standard. How can that be good for English rugby overall?
