Tanker Stowaway incident.

Post by Galfon »

Military assistance now requested - the secret 7 didn't take kindly to being locked in a cabin.The ship has come from Nigeria;
Surely not a novel journey plan, but looks like this crew were playing it correctly.

Not the first time this has happened. A tanker that large can’t be left in the hands of hijackers in such a busy shipping lane and Poole isn’t that far away.

You're a bit military Sandy. What's the drill if a hijacked tanker comes close to Britain / France (God help us - USA)? Drop SAS types on to it? Torpedo it? Ignore it?

Usually try and board it. The SBS are based at Poole and the US would use one of their SEAL teams. They train a lot for ship (and oil platform) assault and they would use as much force as would be needed to resolve the situation.

Blowing up a tanker would be an absolute last resort given the environmental damage and loss of life onboard.

I doubt it would ever be ignored given the size of these things and the damage it could cause if oil were vented into the sea or it crashed into something.
