Magic moment, for me, in about the 60th minute. Launchbury decided Youngs was too slow as usual so he picked it up himself from the ruck and zipped ouf a lovely flat pass. "That's the way to do it!" Splendid.

6 out of 10 is probably fair enough. Dont think there was any danger of Wales winning but we made hard work of it for a time. Obviously the FH needlessly kicking when there are options to run isnt just because Farrell has been playing there. Ford guilty of this mind numbingly dull stuff too. Creativity in attack sorely missing but the real issue is a lack of intent to build attacks and put the ball through the hands, even when it is on.
Underhill and Launchbury excellent, though.
Wales a bit better than expected.

Remove the unfortunate charge down try and the scoreline becomes a more accurate reflection of the play.
Remove the fact captin fantastic left 8 pts of gimme kicks out there .....

Ha. Yeah. I text my brother to say our second row ‘enforcer’ has a better pass from the base than our scrum half.

Underhill is decent enough carrier and maybe he is under-used, but I wouldn’t have used the word ‘explosive’. If it becomes a shoot out between Underhill and Willis, the latter is a much more effective carrier in traffic and probably faster/more elusive in wider channels. Underhill’s defence is his best chance of staying in the team, not more of his OK, but not notably brilliant carrying.
I’m describing him as explosive as on those rare (but frankly wonderful!) carries he’s made in tests his acceleration to his top speed appears very quick, coupled with a very strong natural build (as opposed to the gym bunny conditioned type) making him powerful, another component of explosivity. If Underhill brings more of this carrying to the party and I can honestly see him starting at 6 for the Lions in a Sean O’Brien style role with Tipuric starting at 7 - a combo that Ospreys used at one stage.
You think he’d be that size without the years of weight training he’s obviously done?
Yes to an extent it is actually a matter of natural genetics - the gym work is fine tuning what Mother Nature endows a player.

Yep, Ford standing incredibly deep all game was frustrating. Often looked in two minds about his kicking.

Haha, of course, but I'm still at the exultant stage. Don't harsh on my mellow.

Probably just playing Jonesball to orders.
I'd like to see Ford given a free hand to play off the cuff with no Farrell in the midfield.
England have a lethal back three in Daly/May/Watson but are getting nowhere like the best out of them.

Or he was simply first there and passed the ball. It happens all the time.

Ford’s kicking was pretty shit today. Out in the full, badly positioned, too long, too short. The rest of his game was mixed between good and ok but his boot was largely rubbish.

.

Yep, our midfield was shit on the whole. He and Faz have stunk the place out at 10.

I suspect that injury not withstanding Willis and Underhill will be the first choice starting flank pairing before too long if only because they both have those X factors (or that margin of additional ability beyond their squad rivals) of fetching and defence respectively, time will tell. Billy had a good game but imo he’s not as skilled as Falatau and doesn’t take quite so much stopping or make the metres in the tight that he did a few years back. Would really like to see Dombrandt introduced at 8 in next 6 Nations.

Well except Curry is fantastic.

Have you actually seen Dombrandt play btw? Like a full game?

Dombrandt has played a full game? I mean he’s been on the pitch for 80 minutes sure, but actually played a full game?

I agree that Curry is highly capable over a range of things but I expect you will struggle to tell me what what his X factor actually is! (because I’m not sure he has one). Yes I have seen Dombrandt play a full game, the point being? :)

We all see the game differently but it seems obvious to me that Tom Curry is a special talent and one of our very best players.

I like a session of Youngs-bashing as much as the next guy, but he's been pretty damn good last couple of weeks imo.

I'd agree and i'm no admirer. Youngs has been one of our better backs.

Yep. Curry’s X factor is consistently being one of the best players on the pitch. He’s just f**king good at everything he’s asked to do.
