West loses his feet in the ruck, but only kills Wasps counter ruck, rather than stopping the ball coming out, that's a harsh harsh pen.

CMK seems to be trying to even this up. I mean even Brink is driving a right angles in that scrum.
Wasps deciding they don't want the ball for some daft reason

Just this ref with regards to reffing Wasps.Tigersman wrote:and I thought Tigers fans moaned about the ref
I don't think he necessarily get's much wrong, but as we know, there's a lot of variation in what you can blow up for or not, and still be right.

To be fair from the angle the ref was stood it looked that way. It was only when you saw the reverse angle is was "yup, that's a red card". Good work from the TMO to be insistent. I'd rather Weise wasn't sent off but at the same time we as a sport need to change behaviour at the ruck and if you took your arm and make contact with the head there's no defence.Raggs wrote:It's chest on chest, it's chest on chest....
Oh...
Wasps look out of sorts at the minute. Tigers needed a bigger gal before the red though because as the game breaks up this Wasps team have a lot of weapons to use. Should be an interesting second half.
As an aside Freddie Steward had a very good first half, I hope Eddie isn't watching otherwise Martin won't be the first Tigers youngster to get called up this 6N.

I can't say I'm a fan of Sir but he's been pretty consistent so far. His message re the tackler has been very clear. He maybe let Wasps get away with a couple early on and then clamped down on it consistently. Been hot on the offside line, twice pinging the Tigers backline at lineouts which you don't often see.Raggs wrote:Just this ref with regards to reffing Wasps.Tigersman wrote:and I thought Tigers fans moaned about the ref

Players really need to learn fast.
If in doubt about wrapping arms don't try to tackle

Lavanini is bent double there, how is that not any mitigation?

I'm done watching now.
Not because I think cards ruin games etc, just can't put up with watching Wasps play like this.

If Healey thinks it's a bit harsh, it says a lot

Re: Tigers vs Wasps Sat 3pm
Because Brookes makes no effort to lower his height or make a legal tackle? Brookes can only realistically make contact with the head from the angle he comes in at and just drops the shoulder in. At best it's clumsy at worst it's a nasty cheap shot same as Weise's really. Tuck the arm and make contact with the head and it's red.Peej wrote:Lavanini is bent double there, how is that not any mitigation?
The Liebenburg red card at the end was ridiculous. He is back pedalling to get underneath a kick off and Bassett actually knees him in the face whilst jumping. How there was no mitigation for being blindsided by a flying winger I have no idea.
Tigers should have scored four tries today. Kicking for posts when there was a massive lead but CMK was being very lenient with Wasps many infringements in their own 22 (no warning at any point). Could have been one had CMK not pulled Tigers back for a pass that was never forward. Sounds like I'm being harsh on CMK but actually think he did alright today was fairly consistent.

Liebenburg was going forward, not paying any attention to where Bassett was. It was dozy, dangerous play.
Looked a straight red to me, as did the other two.

Re: Tigers vs Wasps Sat 3pm
By going forward so you mean walking backwards looking at the ball that was coming down pretty much on top of him but for the flying Bassett? It's a bit dozy but it's an innocent mistake, since when do we give red cards for innocent mistakes? The first two red cards are very reckless from players that can see the incident clearly in front of them and chose to act the way they do. The third is a tired forward who gets surprised by a winger fresh of the bench and blindsided. I was generally the winger in those situations and if cards had been given out like that in the Leicestershire leagues we'd have won a lot more games because the opposition would have been playing with less players.fivepointer wrote:Liebenburg was going forward, not paying any attention to where Bassett was. All red was the right call IMO.
Players need to start sacrificing that explosive momentum for some more awareness

Wiese Stats
66 meters gained
6 defenders beaten
2 tackles
0 missed
In just 26 minutes, imagine if he'd not got himself sent off... I wonder if Eddie is checking for English relatives?

I’m not saying the Brookes’ red was necessarily the wrong decision, but you do see high/head shots like that quite a few times from ruck & tackle situation in every game. It was really only the Lavinini reaction that highlighted it.

Re: Tigers vs Wasps Sat 3pm
You do I agree and that's the problem. It's appalling technique. There's no bend at the waist, he's not attempting to go low. He drops the shoulder in but doesn't attempt to wrap. It's the lazy little shot as the second tackler to help bring down the ball carrier. It's dangerous and unnecessary. As soon as he makes contact with the head he's done but even if he hadn't he should have been sanctioned though often those are let go.Timbo wrote:I’m not saying the Brookes’ red was necessarily the wrong decision, but you do see high/head shots like that quite a few times from ruck & tackle situation in every game. You see less powerful versions of the Weise clear out as well. They don't necessarily hit the head but the poor technique is the same. Arm tucked and arriving at speed. With the number of red cards you'd assume that coaches will start focusing on these and coaching players how to avoid these and change their habits.
Well maybe not Brookes because his defence coach when interviewed didn't see a problem with the attempted tackle and that is a problem in itself.
