This is great news, albeit a bit embarrassing that it’s take a quarter of a century of pro rugby to get going.

Agreed. Bear in mind that the women's RWC got axed while cricket and sailing didn't, and that the women's 6N tourney also as cancelled while the blokes did not.

Re: Women’s Super Rugby
I was pretty stunned to learn the other day that the first recognised women’s test match was only played in 1992 (France v Netherlands). New Zealand was even slower off the mark, with our first offical test coming in 1991.
Anyway, hopefully this new incentive will lead to a proper competition and we can make a bit of progress here.

Knowing how much you love league, have you ever seen a Kiwi Ferns Vs. Jillaroos game? They absolutely go for it and put it out there.Lizard wrote:I was pretty stunned to learn the other day that the first recognised women’s test match was only played in 1992 (France v Netherlands). 6n not fully cancelled, although sadly curtailed. It's on in a couple of weeks.morepork wrote:Agreed. Bear in mind that the women's RWC got axed while cricket and sailing didn't, and that the women's 6N tourney also as cancelled while the blokes did not.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Jillaroos? Really? Ok.morepork wrote:Knowing how much you love league, have you ever seen a Kiwi Ferns Vs. Jillaroos game? I’ve no doubt such a fixture is a compelling display of thinly disguised prison violence. At least there would (probably) be fewer rapists on the pitch than in a Kiwis v Kangaroos match. Same amount of neck tattoos, I’d wager.
I did watch/listen to the White Ferns finally get one over the Jillaustralian Cricket Team yesterday. That was good. More entertaining than the men handing the Bangers another thrashing.
