Good on us if so. Have never seen them play but heard Chile are improving. We also have some young players who would benefit from that kind of tour game.

Don't know how true this is, but I'd like to believe it, so I do....

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

What's so pleasing about that tweet is the D Line organisation. Beautiful.

You won't see that against Wales.Big D wrote:What's so pleasing about that tweet is the D Line organisation. Beautiful.
We won't get the ball. You won't have to form a D line.

I also like the co-ordinated counter ruck from the FagersonsBig D wrote:What's so pleasing about that tweet is the D Line organisation. Beautiful.

counter ruck is key.Cameo wrote:I also like the co-ordinated counter ruck from the FagersonsBig D wrote:What's so pleasing about that tweet is the D Line organisation. Beautiful.
Watch very carefully start of the gif in the top left corner. They have a man out wide, our defence is very narrow. The tackle then the counter ruck do just enough to slow Youngs and make him lob out por ball. If he gets quick clean ball and a quick pass we could have been in trouble

Not totally sold on either of those. Cummings to the bench? Johnson to 23? Johnson doesn't seem like a great bench option to me.

Thistle are hit and miss. so wouldn't surprise me either way. Tuipulotu v Halaholo feels like playing into their hands.

Are they suggesting that will happen or that should happen?
I hope not with both to be honest.

They are suggesting that is what they'd heard. They are hit and miss on things so perhaps a pinch of salt needed.Cameo wrote:Are they suggesting that will happen or that should happen?

I don’t like the idea of skinner playing at 6 but to be honest it’s not a bad shout if he is there to smash bashin/Jenkins and recent the jackler.
Tipo is not a bad option and offers a slightly more direct jonnson , which you might want if you think wales are going with Tompkins and adams but also if u think hooahol , Tompkins.
He’s going to change the squad, if it’s wet Gilchrist keeps his spot, dry I think Cummings comes in.
If it’s 2 7s in the backrow , Skinner comes in , if it’s Morris try prob Bradbury
Front row will prob stay as is just so you can replace them as a single unit.

Re: 6N squad - starting team
I can't decide what I want in the back row. I think I would probably pull in Bradbury, but I'd be most excited about Darge. I know he is an out and out seven at this level but he has played 8 a fair bit and both him and Watson are strong carriers so it's not completely ridiculous to pick both.
Skinner might not be a bad shout but I'll admit I'm still a bit blind to his qualities at the moment. He always seems to do okay (and good steal on the weekend) but I've rarely seen a game with him playing and though "he really needs to start the next game" or "we need to fit him in even if it's in the back row". Happy to be proved wrong though.

On Skinner I think that's a very Exeter (bar Simmonds) thing. All their forwards just get on with their job and do it pretty well.Cameo wrote:I can't decide what I want in the back row. So whole front row, Skinner amd Tuipulotu start and Darge and Redpath to bench are the changes

Hogg (c); Graham, Harris, Tuipulotu, Van der Merwe; Russell, Price; Schoeman, McInally, Nel, Gray, Gilchrist, Skinner, Watson, M Fagerson.
Replacements: Turner, Sutherland, Z Fagerson, Bradbury, Darge, White, Kinghorn, Redpath
Didn't see that coming. Not sure that I like that centre partnership and Nel will do well to last 50 minutes. Toony tombola is back with a vengeance.
I do like the backrow flexibility though.

Interesting front row tactic. Copy the boks!
To be fair, why not if it works? Maybe Zander will come on at ht if Nel’s blowing.
In terms of the backs, I’m a little apprehensive about the change, but only really because I haven’t seen a lot of Tuipolotu. Some people saying that Johnson’s unlucky because he didn’t get to do too much offensively in the game, but if this isn’t pre-planned, perhaps Toony might say “well exactly - he can come back when he can influence the game more”?
Looking forward to Darge coming on.

Quite excited by that, which is worrying in itself.

As I said, not convinced by the Skinner or Tuipolotu selections, but that is offset by the bench to some degree. Can really change things up if we want.
Didn't think he would go for the whole front row change but not the worst idea. Gives a bit of freshness without really losing much in terms of a settled side. We may miss Fagerson's energy early on though.

I like the balance though, you get Schoeman’s energy instead, and I’ve said it a bunch but yeah I’m not against the Italian trick if Nel can’t keep going.Cameo wrote:As I said, not convinced by the Skinner or Tuipolotu selections, but that is offset by the bench to some degree. In terms of impact Turner and Fagerson offer something we don’t often get from the bench.
I’m not sold on Tuipulotu but it’s better we actually take a proper look than GT’s frequent yo-yo trick that teaches nobody anything.

Yeah, the bench is the best I've seen for a while!
I know what you mean about giving players a proper chance. Struggling to think of any recent examples who haven't at least been given a start or two though. I know even that isn't much but we are not generally talking about players who are really in contention to be full time starters, it's more "can x do a job for us if we need".
