I posted that quite early! Game deteriorated quickly. Wales will get praise and hung in there but I thought it was as much that France got a bit nervy. They are beatable if you stay close but it''ll rely on them underperforming.

Surely that's illegal tackle on the Irish 2nd row?

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

That red might have ruined this game from 77 minutes out.

That's not a criticism of the ref, it was a clear red. But Ireland will make them pay a heavy coin I think.

I've got no dog in this game but Ijote has some of the McCaw luck. 98% of players get it wrong when diving through the ruck like that and England are down to 13 and are out of this.

Yeah he's on the edge but the ref isn't pinging him for it so why not?

This rugby, it's only illegal if the ref notices

Absolutely. But if I was his coach I'd be worried how many times he can spin the roulette wheel and get away with it. It didn't feel smart to me, though the result justifies it I guess.

Indeed. Do it until the ref says you can't.

Surprisingly fun game that. Ireland probably could have ground out a comfortable win but tried to put the game out of sight in 30 minutes. A few less drops when they had momentum and they would have hammered England.

England (and in particular their scrum) then did amazingly to come back into it.

Dammit. Really thought that Italy might do it up to that point

Great run, but that is weak as fuck from Jiffy's motm. Have to make that tackle.

Well played Italy.

There were 3 or 4 Italian players that were more deserving too. Weak from Davies is an understatement.

Great try though. Young lad obviously has something

Isn't there a thing now where they have to pick the MotM fro the winning (at the time of choosing) team - precisely because it's cold comfort, (and bad TV) to give it to someone on the losing side?

Last time Italy beat Wales was 2007
AWJ played in that one too

Adams gave his man-of-the-match medal to Capuozzo.

Good for him. Shouldn't have had to and the idea that you can't give it to someone on the losing side is ridiculous

Am I right thinking that if France win by 48 points then Scotland will finish a HUGELY DESERVED 3rd in the table?

Is it just me or are England incredibly lucky to still have 15 on the pitch?

Italy's win there is huge. Made my day. They were the better team throughout but to do it in that style is even more special! Must feel good to shut some people up

France deserving winners. This week and last I thought they showed some nerves by going into their shells when they could have pulled away, but you would have to think they will keep improving.

forza Azzuri!

They played well but I thought the legs had gone. Until that late try. Made by a 5'9" 10 and a half stone player from Pro D2 in France

and see this tweet. As one of the comments below says, he hasn't aged a day :D
