Jesus... Tough crowd.
I too would be utterly distraught if my career ended by whimpering out in the French top flight. The fucking shame of it all. I have no idea how that cat sleeps at night.

I get you. But still, he had all the physical tools to be a great player, he showed it from time to time. Just a shame he didn't seem to want it.Edinburgh in Exile wrote:Jesus... Tough crowd.

What parts do you disagree with? Nobody is saying Beattie doesn't have a good life and career. He still had all the tools to become a Scotland great. If you put JG's consistency and desire into Beattie then we'd have one of the best 8s in the world.Edinburgh in Exile wrote:Jesus... Tough crowd.

He never reached his potential and likely never will and that is what frustrates people.

Coventry has left London Irish. Wonder where that leaves Laidlaw?

Offt not the move I expected a 32yo NDL to make.
Good luck to him.

I already had doubts over Dai Youngs judgement.

The other Laidlaw now undroppable now for both club and country after being appointed Gloucester captain

Cheaper than letting him go to France and buying in a decent 9 I guess.af73 wrote:The other Laidlaw now undroppable now for both club and country after being appointed Gloucester captain![]()

My god I'd forgotten what it was like to be this miserable about Scottish rugby.

Suggestion on the Edinburgh board that Ben Ransom could be headed north. Looks like Maitland has taken his place at Saracens and he is Scottish qualified. Can't see an obvious place for him in either squad but would be happy for him and Bryce to battle it out, he's got great attacking flair.

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)
I have just gone on the French website Rugbyrama.fr where they are mentioning DeLuca's transfer to Wasps next season. Here are some of the comments from some Biarritz supporters with a quick translation in Green. Seems like he left an impression.
euskalred
Bon séjour chez les anglais......au BO il n a rien apporté.....bon défenseur mais c'est tout ....
Hope that he enjoys his stay with the English... He didn't bring anything to the BO... A good defender, that's all...
oliveuskal
@euskalred Not even, he was crap in Defence... Oh,the "no look"pass,that he knew, the ball going to the ground or in the opponents hands, The BO's own Gilbert Montagne(french "Ray Charles"). To say we had to wait half-way through the Season to realise that our best centre pair were our under 20s.
sachaSUA
@euskalred Et pourtant 43 sélections, l'Ecosse ne devait avoir personne !
@euskalred And he still got 43 National Selections, Scotland must have had no one!
adrien83
@sachaSUA lol c'est a n'y rien comprendre.
@sachaSUA lol It's not comprehensible.

@adrien83 Les pauvres supporters écossais eux aussi n'ont rien dû piger
@adrien83 The poor Scottish supporters must not have understood.

I liked NDL before but that interview on the beeb page has really made me warm to him. It's great when you hear pros being just a little more honest than their clubs/agents etc. would probably like.
"Of course we never give up, we always put our names in the hat, but realistically there are better players than me there now who have done more in their short term than I did in my 40 caps," he admitted.

Scott MacLeod has retired and there are unverified claims that Alex Grove is doing the same. Surely there is a place in the wider Edinburgh squad for Mr Grove?

Because Edinburgh's centres aren't very good?hp18 wrote:Why?hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Scott MacLeod has retired and there are unverified claims that Alex Grove is doing the same. Surely there is a place in the wider Edinburgh squad for Mr Grove?
