League world cup
Any interest at all in this? I'm looking forward to it. Always nice to see PNG at an international event. Also fun to see Jamaica, coached by a bloke I played with!
Still, it is all a bit weird of course, seeing if the kiwis or several flavours of Aussie second teams will be able to topple the kangaroos.

Look better than Samoa but don't really know. I felt the idea that Samoa were favourites was a bit silly.
International rugby league is a bit weird really. Talk of it being more open than usual, not sure I believe it.

Young looks a big unit, very quick and sniffs out the line well.
Sign him up to PL quick! - wait, the deals just ain't there no more.
Writing was on the wall when Joel T opted for Catalans.
I'm trying to imagine Eddie Waring commentating on Egypt v Jamaica but doesn't work somehow...
Really is a NRL of Nations this tournament, which speaks volumes for the calibre of that competition.

I am a bit disappointed that this game is so one sided. Samoa were clearly overhyped.
I am mostly just wondering if Tuilagi is related to Manu's lot....

Bit early to tell if Eng are really good, or if the opponents were underwhelming.
(Looks like Kelma T ain't part of the familiar Tuilagi clan, but there is Freddie jnr and Brian, both sons of Bro.Fred and standard 6'3" and 17 st+, playing in Eng and Ita reportedly. but not at highest level.)

Freddie Jnr and Brian were both ex of the Leicester academy and, to be honest, they only stayed in there as long as they did because of their surname and our desire not to upset Manu. Weren't much cop.Galfon wrote: ↑Sat Oct 15, 2022 5:08 pm Bit early to tell if Eng are really good, or if the opponents were underwhelming.

Good to see PNG made a real game if it v Tonga. Go Kumals! Up until that point I was really quite disappointed, a lot of very uneven games in what was supposed to be the tight first round.

England having a pretty comfortable time v the French. Still unsure if England are good. A bit of a concern that haven't yet been tested.

Yeah I watched some of the france game as well. Is that dominic young guy as good as the commentators were gushing about him?

Re: League world cup
Yeah, Young like the whole England team seems to be getting a bit more hype than I am convinced they warrant. He's scoring which is obviously pretty important but he lost the ball very cheaply in the run up to the last french try.

The highlight for me so far has been png v the cook islanders. Hoping they can do the Welsh on Tuesday night!

Anyone watch the wheelchair rugby league match last night, England vs Australia. Excellent game and 80 minutes of real entertainment.

Grim viewing for kumals fans. England making ground effortlessly. PNG being obliterated without firing a shot.

Re: League world cup
Yup, well done Samoa. I had rather felt England been overhyped and probably were caught a bit cold by a real fight.
Highlight of the semifinals was probable the kiwi player having his shorts ripped off in a tackle revealing chequered pants like he was in a cartoon.

There is a reasonable chance of NZ women having won both the Rugby and League World Cups within two weeks of each other.

We back to talking about NZ culinary favourites? Not sure it’s an improvement on stale pish and boiled eggs.

Well, a bit underwhelming after the semifinals...
