Biggar to leave Saints
At the end of the season. I wonder where he'll go? France?

Re: Biggar to leave Saints
So, he was actually let go...
“It has been well documented that for this season and next, the salary cap for Premiership clubs is lower than it was previously. There is also a reduction in marquee players from two to one, which presents an additional challenge in building a balanced and competitive squad. We have to start putting a longer-term plan for the team in place, so these are all factors we have considered in making this decision.
“Dan is a good man and he won’t be short of offers for next season and beyond. We wish him, and his family, the very best for whichever opportunity he chooses to pursue.”

I'm sure he will have a few offers on the table. I don't know enough about the Saints' squad to know if this makes sense for them or not, but the new salary cap in England is going to make it interesting for them to compete with the French.UKHamlet wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 10:23 am So, he was actually let go...

Japan I reckon, that would maximise his earnings post world cup.

Re: Biggar to leave Saints
Oh yeah, we desperately need him for the RWC but once that's done, I imagine he'll be calling it day. Guy's got nothing left to prove IMO.
But we have to move on immediately after that. I've no idea who, though. Anscombe will also be one more crock away from the allotment by then. Sheedy? I fear Evans is going backwards. Patchell by name and nature - he'll always do a job but never nail down the shirt IMO. Plus he'll be 30+ by then, too. My money is currently on Costelow... but I won't be risking more than a fiver.

Patchell has had an odd career alright. Has he even settled on a position yet?

He moved to the Scarlets to try and nail down the 10 jersey, unfortunately he has been surpassed by Costellow, he sees himself as a 10 but he can be effective at 15, he can boot it a mile.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 8:43 am Patchell has had an odd career alright. I’ve just read on MIDI Olympique that Biggar is to sign for Toulon - with immediate effect! That’s come out of the blue and I wonder what deal they had to strike with Northampton to release him?francoisfou wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 11:41 amJust read that Toulon are looking to sign a new fly half next season.UKHamlet wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 10:19 am At the end of the season. I believe this is true, and suits both parties, if not Biggar who wanted to stay at Saints.francoisfou wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 4:13 pmI’ve just read on MIDI Olympique that Biggar is to sign for Toulon - with immediate effect! You'd of thought he'd have seen what happened with Rhys Webb and Halfpenny and erred on the side of caution..francoisfou wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 4:13 pmI’ve just read on MIDI Olympique that Biggar is to sign for Toulon - with immediate effect! think the difference is that he is 33, out of contract and will be looking for a good pay day late in his careerNumbers wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 10:18 amYou'd of thought he'd have seen what happened with Rhys Webb and Halfpenny and erred on the side of caution..francoisfou wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 4:13 pmI’ve just read on MIDI Olympique that Biggar is to sign for Toulon - with immediate effect! He starts at fly half in this evening’s Top14 match at home to Lyon.
