Meanwhile, here’s a 2022 highlights reel of him. What an amazing year he’s had, Edinburgh and Scotland will lose one of their most potent attacking threats without him.
Also likely to be out for the 6N are Zander Fagerson (hamstring) and Scott Cummings (broken toe). Worryingly, Hamish Watson has been stood down since November after a concussion. We have cover for second row and back row but our tight head depth is pretty much non-existent. Nel has been a great servant for Scottish rugby but he’s almost 37. After that there’s Murphy Walker, who’s only had a few appearances for Glasgow, Simon Berghan, who’s not very good and Javan Sebastian (ditto).
Yep. The lack of depth at tighthead has been glaring for a while now. GT has looked at various other options but very few starts given to players other than Fagerson and (occasionally) Nel.
Best case scenario Fagerson gets something resembling a break and we get a proper look at who is next best in line for the 3 shirt.
Such a shame Cummings Scotland career has been so disrupted with injury. A couple of years back he looked certain to take ownership of a starting spot.
Obviously hoping Watson is okay, but not sounding overly promising.
